Sigh, I wanted to enjoy this cruise as I did all the others but, it just did not meet any of my expectations of prior sailings. We'd been told approx 100 people cancelled/ no showed so we equated that to the lack of participation from the cruise director; the LAST night was the only night that was entertaining! This cruise has me wanting to take a break.

Onboard Activities

Sooooooo, no "sail away" party to speak of! DID NOT see the cruise director UNTIL debarkation...literally!!!
The cruise activities were comparable to a senior citizen home...NO JOKE!
Went to the fitness center. Had a manicure. Club one night....etc. Same activities different ship EXCEPT, no hype man in sight (cruise director)
Entertainment

Stage show: I should audition because it seems that as long as an effort is made, you'll get the part! My dog howls a better tune than these "performers"!
DJ's (Cue & B-Owt) were great. The Caribbean tunes guy was great also!
Service and Staff

Always great... hardworkers.
Ship Quality

Needs to go to dry dock ASAP! ! There were industrial fans everywhere and why I'm not sure but, most of the floors close to the elevators smelled of sewage!
Cabin / Stateroom

Clean but HOT!! Air was not functioning properly! Glad I brought my fan!
Ship tip
DON'T DO IT!! After you've sailed more than 2-3 times you realize that everything is pretty much the same! Same activities, same food so, you start to look closer and compare ships. The Magic was no magic.
Didn't go outside of the port; the area was beautiful! Mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Loved the lazy river and "beach" entry pool area.
A little congested around the port but still nice! Didn't do an excursion but did the speed boat/inflatable and horseback! Had the best Tilapia sandwich at the little dive that had "free wi fi and cold beer" on the roof!
We sail carnival 4 or 5 times a year , just did our 70th. Cruise . And the shows in the theater are the same on all the ships for years now , it is time for a change !
Cruises are what you make it. I personally don't care who the cruise directors are. I don't really pay attention to them except for general announcements. On a ship of 4000 I am sure it's hard to make sure they are always pleasing everyone.
I've learned that your cruise experience is what you make it. I know the cruise director is important, and yes you should of seen them more often than just debarkation day, but really you make your own fun and memories by trying to find the good in it all, and when it's bad try and remember that there's 4000 others that they are trying to cater to.
I always find it interesting how reviews and experiences on the same cruise can be vastly different. I just read a review on another site that they raved about how the CD on this cruise was the best they ever had.
