Review summary

If you're looking for an affordable trip that seems like multiple vacations in one, a cruise is for you. This was our first cruise and we were overall happy with our experience. I wish we had had more guidance about what is on each floor, and where kids could go. We did not see the arcade until the last night. The movies were great - all the newest releases. This sounds silly but the popcorn was gross - no butter on it at all :( My son was in a frozen yogurt coma the entire trip (a great perk! especially for later in the evening). I wish the pool was bigger, was way too crowded - adults and kids sharing one pool, adults getting angry at kids for splashing (um hello it's a mixed age cruise people). overall we had a really good time, and we're looking forward to booking another cruise for next year -- this time a little closer for the departure :)

Embarkation

It was fine besides being corralled like cattle on the decks for the captains message which we could not hear or understand.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was good. The lines, however were HORRENDOUS - particularly the burrito line. There was only ONE person making burritos. I waited 20 minutes (no joke the line did not move) to get a burrito. There weren't many fresh vegetables on board which, as a vegetarian, is kind of frustrating considering the price. The dining room for the first two nights was lovely. The third night I requested "baked ziti".... baked ziti is ziti baked with red sauce ... what I got was basically ziti with alfredo and melted cheddar cheese. My son and I left right in the middle of dinner and went downstairs to the buffet and did not return the final evening to the dining hall. The burrito stations food was amazing as were the tacos. I wish I had seen the place with falafel before the final day, totally would have gotten that at least once. Breakfast buffet was good, just wish there was an option to get fried eggs instead of always scrambled. Oh back to the burrito buffet - the hot sauces to go with the burritos were so good I wish I knew what they were!

Onboard Activities

Pools were WAY too crowded. Someone threw up in the pool so we had to wait for them to drain it, clean it, refill it.... (roughly 5 hours - and this was on the "fun day at sea" day). Movies were great choices and the newest releases. I wish we were provided a better map of the ship -- we missed out on many things (didn't know there was a fitness center, arcade, rock-climbing).

Entertainment

Magician in the dining hall was awesome! I wish I had known about the motown performance. My son would have loved that. I wish there was a block scheduling itinerary given out for each day so that people could plan their day better.

Children's Programs

My 11 year old loved the late night kids club. He said the staff was not that friendly (which I can understand -- by 10p they've had a long day watching other peoples children).

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was the perfect size for my son and I. We chose to keep the beds apart, so each had a twin bed. I loved sitting in the window and watching the lightening storms out at sea during the evening. Beds were SOOOOO comfortable!

Ship tip

PACK MULTIPLE BATHING SUITS!! DON'T OVERPACK CLOTHES!! Learn everything on every floor before going. Make a plan as to where to eat each night.

I was incredibly surprised at how fast we were checked out and off the ship.

If Liberty was ur first cruise u should check out some of the bigger ones! They have some cool water slides that my daughter enjoys! The Liberty is a great first timer or quick getaway cruise! Now ur hooked! Watch out for sea day brunch and sea day tea! Always fun and yummy!

I'm with you on the ziti. It was bizarre. I also noticed that the kid'd staff wasn't as friendly as we have had on other cruises.

Welcome to the club! There is definitely a learning curve to finding your way around and finding your favorite spots on board. Next time try the main dining room for sea day brunch - my favorite meal, and you could get fried eggs there with lots of other choices! ❤️🛳

Thanks for the review. Info for your future cruises; you can ask for a ship map from guest services. Let you son know he's not the only frozen yogurt fanatic. I can't walk past the machine (on both sides of the ship) without stopping for a cone. I do a daily yogurt walk three times around the ship, stopping at the machines for a cone.
