We were looking forward to this quick getaway, but were quickly disappointed. This was our first cruise with Carnival and we were unclear on where to go or what to do when we boarded the ship. When we ran into issues/questions, the guest service line was ALWAYS extremely long. That is not a good sign. I was disappointed to find out (when I got home) that gratuities were automatically added to my final bill, without my authorization. We tipped throughout the cruise for sub-par service and ended up paying more in gratuities than was earned.
Embarkation

Smooth. However, once we got on the ship, we had no idea where to go or what to do.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The main dining room was okay. Dining room entertainment was great. However, charging for after dinner coffee was disappointing. The buffet lines were ridiculous. The buffet variety and quality was sub-par. Burger joint was great. The BBQ place was a good secret find.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Love serenity area and the mini golf. The spa was way overpriced. Pools were cold.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Comedians (Michael Macy was amazing and Azeem was really good) were the best part of the whole cruise. The Hasbro game show was okay. The other live entertainment was awful. Love the piano bar, but the singer was not good. The violin players were good.
Children's Programs
Did not bring children.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Rarely saw the room steward. I actually thought he left the ship at one point. Waiters were good in the sit down restaurant. Paully (cruise director) was terrible. If he feels he needs to dance and be the center of attention, he should look into dancing on the cruise. He was very self-absorbed and not truly focused on the guests, but more focused on trying to be funny. He is not funny. The shopping coordinator, Allison, seemed to not care at all about our poor shopping experience at Diamond International. She talked about how she would be there, supporting us and that they do not do business with shops that are sub-par. However, she was in the store and we found her two days later to give her the details of our issues with the store manager, and she just kept saying "okay, okay, okay" with a far-off look in her eyes. Truly disappointed. Overall, I found the staff to be less-than in all areas, compared to the staff working on the Royal Caribbean ship from our cruise last year.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Well maintained ship overall. Areas of opportunity - The windows were extremely dirty across the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Overall, we enjoyed this cabin. Found it spacious and clean. Areas of opportunity - The dresser drawers stuck and the beds had a gap between them.
Thanks for sharing. We did a B2B on this ship. Everything was great except for the food in the MDR. The MDR food was mediocre as best. It quite literally was blah- we always headed to the buffet or the pizza/deli joints following the dinner we only picked at. We went back to the MDR every night because we did not want a bad reflection to be cast on the awesome servers we had.
I recently went on my first cruise on the Liberty, on any ship for that matter. I did a ton of research before going so I was prepared for much of what you mentioned, not saying that you didn't prepare. You mentioned that once you got on the ship you didnt know what to do or where to go, when I got on the ship they had staff and signs by the elevators directing us to the Lido deck to eat lunch while waiting to be able to access our rooms. Not sure why you had the issue that you did.
I don't understand why people get so nasty when someone expresses their honest opinion on THEIR cruise experience. I've sailed Carnival Liberty and it was by far my worst experience. I am sorry you had a not so grand cruise but I'm even more sorry for the rude folks responding. Now read read read that!
Read read read !! all the fees are spelled out for you on line when you book !! guest service lines can often get backed up try going at night or call from your room they can help you over the phone no need to get fired up over a few minor things
