Review summary

We chose this ship because of the reviews. We had no idea that the food was going to be this disappointing. We had 3 separate crew members tell us.... "if you think your food is bad you should try ours". Even the pursers desk clerk said this. We learned that frequent Carnival Cruisers tend not to eat in the dining room and chose to eat at the buffet. Our goal on the cruise was to relax and enjoy some good food and drink. If you are a foodie and like food that taste better than hospital food or Golden Corral kinda food this is not the cruise line for you. This is what I have learned.

The food in the main dining room was GROSS!!! It reminded me of the food they serve in the hospital. Thank you Alchemy bar for healing our sick stomachs!! Stop by these ladies to cure your tummy ache from the terrible food!

The food reminded me of my stay at the Cleveland Clinic hospital. If you want a stomach ache and like bland food this is the place to eat. Super disappointed in this!!

They had two pools and a fitness center (we did not use). We wished they had a place on the ship that had no lights so we could star gaze.

Tevin the Cruise Director was great. He definitely was memorable. His fun squad crew was fun as well. As for the shows. I thought cruise lines were supposed to have Las Vegas style shows? Our trip did not have much the 2nd night. Just a bunch of singers in black sitting on a chair taking turns singing songs? We enjoyed the Comedians the most and the Love & Marriage Show.

Our waiters were kinds, our room stewart was great.... we loved Kat and Tatianna from The Alchemy Bar. They made the best drinks and cures for whatever is ailing you.

Our cabin bathroom & shower was super tiny. NOTE: Do not leave the toilet seat up or your bathroom with smell like a Jiffy John. The mattresses were old and had dips in them.

Ship tip

If you have never been on a cruise before then start with Carnival. If you have ever been on Royal Caribbean you will be disappointed in the food, the room and the shows. This was my 2nd Carnival and my last. We chose this because I wanted him to experience a fun ship. They offer fun, but if you are a foodie this is not the cruise line for you.

Easy!!! Park at the Country In Suites and take the shuttle. You don't have to stay there and the parking is a lot cheaper. You must call ahead to make a reservation for your car parking.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

The island itself is nice. The fact that your drink package does not work over on the island is un-cool. A bottle of water is almost 3 bucks on the island. If you go on the island get your drinks before getting off the boat.

When my son was a crew member he ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in his room. They have refrigerators in their rooms.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed. We eat in the Main dining room 100% for brunch and dinner. Guys burger for late lunch. I avoid the buffets. Steakhouse is also great. Chefs table was amazing. Definitely “foodie” options - if they cost a little extra it’s still a less expensive cruise than other cruise lines...

We're foodies also, it's part of what we're paying for. It will be our first time trying Carnival in March and I hope the food is good. We love being pampered in the main dining room.
