Review summary

WONDERFUL JOB making us feel relaxed, appreciated, respected, cared-for, and happy! THANK YOU FOR A SUPERB TIME! I personally CANNOT WAIT to sail again with CARNIVAL - I'm SOLD on Carnival!!!!! Also, thank you SO MUCH for the hotel vouchers--we traveled around Florida for several days following the cruise via car, and the hotel vouchers were extremely helpful to us in supplementing our payments for lodging - so not only were they were a generous gesture of appreciation, but they were also a very practical and helpful benefit for us!

Embarkation

It was generally very smooth and we definitely felt warmly welcomed! Where it could have been better was with regard to the Safety presentation. That took about 35 minutes longer than needed--especially given the paucity of information imparted.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Silver Dining Room, which we patronized, was gorgeous, and the waiters (Augustus - Head Waiter, who even spoke some Greek (!!!) with us; Naved - Waiter, was extremely attentive, service-oriented, and courteous; Issar also helped us out the first evening. They were a POWERHOUSE team! Also, the flash dance to "Happy" on the 3rd night of the cruise was AMAZING!!! Emile's buffet was superb - huge selection of fresh, delicious food daily; Guy Fieri's Burgers was terrific, and the all-day pizza, ice cream, and coffee were a BIG hit with us and our daughter! The steakhouse was beautiful, if a bit "stuffy."

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
3 Comedy shows (Kim Harrison and other comedian-male), disco, Bingo, Love & Marriage show (Ed & Vera starred!), Motown music trivia/sing-along, Shopping info seminar by Jorge, shopping at Effy, purchasing photos, Dr. Seuss at Sea, weight room, swimming in Versailles Pool.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
SUPER customer-service-oriented, professional, courteous, warm, friendly, the staff expressed what seemed to be genuine concern. They seemed like wonderful people who had been very expertly trained, and who took great pride in their work and genuinely enjoyed hosting us! They were unmatched!!! Putu serviced our cabin and did a fabulous job, and was extremely kind and solicitous. He is to be highly commended!!!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Gorgeous, beautiful, amazingly effective use of space--our statement was shockingly spacious and comfortable!!! Staff were cleaning the ship CONSTANTLY, everywhere we went! It shone beautifully!!! Some windows could have been a bit cleaner, otherwise, SUPERB!

Ship tip

Eat in as many of the different venues as possible, as none is to be missed! IF you are going to the Bahamas, bring water shoes - it's ALL ROCK underneath in the water -- not sand, not muck, but ROCK. Water shoes will be much appreciated!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We set off from here. Parking at Park Port Canaveral was very easy, affordable, convenient, and safe.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Convenient, pretty, fun, exotic feeling! We went to The Blue Lagoon with Shore Excursions Group. Very professional service, excellent in making connections and getting us back on time. Bus and ferry boat rides were GREAT! Island itself was a bit disappointing, as you had to wear a life vest to go in any deeper than about 3 feet at the North Beach. Kelly's Beach was closed, and the main beach was extremely shallow and child-focused. The best beach on the island had been relegated to holding pens for marine wildlife (porpoises, sea otters, and manta rays). The provided lunch was GREAT! We had fun walking around Bay Street and doing some souvenir shopping, after the excursion.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

4 out of 5
Much more "down-to-earth" and less touristy a place than Nassau, Freeport is highly industrial. We went on an excursion with Shore Excursions Group to Crystal Beach, Dead Man's Reef for swimming and snorkeling. We swam, played volleyball, hiked the beach, and drank Goombay Smashes--- it was WONDERFUL and the staff at the beach bar were attentive. I found myself VERY close to a manta ray in the water, but it swam away from me. THERE WERE MANY SAND FLEAS THERE! My daughter and I got "eaten alive" in the 3.5 hours that we were there. Even today, 7 days later, I'm still itching from them and the bites are showing. I'm trying to avoid scratching to promote healing. The terrific lady who drove us there was very communicative and interested to tell us about the island. I very much enjoyed talking with her. Also, the taxi drivers who returned us to the ship were superb! They were proud to tell us about Grand Bahama and Freeport, and we "counted churches" together, as we drove along the route from the beach back to the port. There is an extraordinarily high concentration of churches there for the number of residents. They also talked about the local custom of the family gathering for dinner and festivities on Sundays - lovely!

Our first cruise was on Liberty last year! Loved it. Who was your Cruise Director? Steve from Canada?
