Review summary

While there were some highlights, we won't be back on the Liberty.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Lines moved along and process was smooth. Bags arrived much later than expected. We were allowed in our rooms about 1:30 but bags didn't arrive until after 5pm so plan accordingly!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in the dining room was good, but we had a late dinner slot and only food available to snack early was the same every day: burgers, pizza, sandwiches. Would have been nice to vary it a little each day or offer lighter items.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
There were only 2 tiny pools for kids under 18. They were packed all the time so our teenage boys had no interest in going near them. Due to the crowds there, the whirlpools became 'pools' and kids were doing cannonballs and diving for toys in them. One of the huge selling points for the cruise for my boys was the onboard basketball court. However, this was only open 8-5pm (and some nights 11:30-1am) and unmonitored. It was overcrowded with lines and kids who didn't allow others to play. My boys stopped by many times a day and never set foot on the court. Biggest disappointment for them. They played mini golf, which was OK, but that was the only entertainment option for them. This ship needs an upgrade of activities!!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We saw two comedy shows, the 80's trivia and Love & Marriage. Comedy was good but very short 25-30 min. 80's trivia was fun and our favorite.

Children's Programs

Our kids are 14 & 17

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff were friendly and attentive.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
As noted, needs an upgrade. All areas were clean and well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

I don't recommend any long trips on this ship as there is little variety - of food or activity. Short trips are best and staff are attentive.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Only departure port, no activities

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Lots to do. Organized excursions took some time to coordinate, from meeting on ship, to debarking, waiting for transportation, etc. Plan an hour from published debarkation time to start of excursion. Return is smoother process.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
little to do and while beach is nice, swimming is tough due to many rocks. Not a sandy bottom in the water. Beach is not a good walking beach like many Caribbean beaches, it is short and all beach chairs are crammed into a small space. Took us almost 90 minutes from the time we stepped into 'return-to-ship' line to the time we got through the checkpoint on the ship in the afternoon.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
We attended the disembarkation session the day before and information was not presented well (granted Donkey was wiped out from all activities and not thinking clearly). He said all decks will be called first, then all zones. All passengers will be off the ship by 9:30. Never did he say we had to be clear of our cabins at 8:30am. And they called decks 1-3 and then all blue zones, then deck 6. Guests were camped out in the elevator lobbies of all the decks so no one could access the elevators. Guests were dragging/banging their suitcases down the staircases and creating a lot of noise. Staff seemed to wondering why this was happening but yet no one asked guests to clear the elevator lobbies.
