Review summary

This was our first cruise so we didn't know what to expect. We heard about people who really love cruises and then about people who really hate them so we went in with an open mind. The Liberty is a great ship and has a bunch of fun things to do for everyone. The kids had fun from the moment we stepped on board and us adults had a blast as well just relaxing. There is a casino and clubs and all that but we didn't do those types of things and just stuck together as a family most of the trip. Really the only disappointing part was that after booking excursions through United, both were cancelled. One was cancelled about an hour after I booked so I was able to book something else through Carnival, but the other was cancelled and we were never notified and showed up to be let down. Quite a bummer. If you are thinking of excursions Carnival makes it really convenient if you haven't been on a cruise before and you will not get lost or left behind. The Bahamas (at least Nassau and Freeport) are super easy to navigate and so taking a taxi is not hard at all and getting to a beach or other destination is easy (this is what we had to do since out United booked excursion was cancelled). Yes the ship is dated but you really only notice it in the cabin bathrooms.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was actually really good. Go to the dinning room every night if you can. Its fun and has great food. The down side is that at almost every meal anywhere on board someone in the family had dirty dishes. Lipstick on glasses, sludge at the bottom of coffee cups, food on silverware, etc. Kind of a bummer but easily fixed

Service and Staff

First I will say that May in the Silver dining room was awesome! She was fun and had stories and tips on everything. However, not all the staff shared in her customer service style. Everyone was nice, don't get me wrong, but the quality and speed at which some people operate was maybe not up to par.

Ship Quality

Overall the ship is fine. Its older I suppose but I only noticed dated colors and designs in the cabin which we didn't spend much time in.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We loved our room. Bed was comfy for my wife, I found it to be a little uncomfortable but I guess that's how it goes. Kids had bunk beds using the couch and a drop down bed. That was a pretty big highlight for them.

Ship tip

Enjoy it! We barely scratched the surface on what was available on board but that was just because we wanted to unwind and not do much. So enjoy it all or just relax and enjoy not doing anything, you can do whatever you want

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Lots of fun but we wished we had more time. It would be nice if cruises would do overnights in ports so we didn't feel so rushed. We had the perfect spot on the beach and then had to leave to get back to the ship

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

Outside of the port area is nice. Where the ships dock is a very industrial area. The island was also hit hard by hurricane Matthew and is still in recovery mode. Not a bad place to visit though. Super friendly people too
