Review summary

We didn't like the food. We love the shows. Camp ocean was ok for our kids. Not enough fun activities since they usually lasted 1 hour.

Overal was ok, we will be sailing at different cruise lines for our vacation.

Have you considered moving ?

The closest area with good food and service would be in San Antonio about a 2.5 hour commute each way. I am too old to be doing 15 hour days. On the bright side, I only have a few more months until I start collecting my retirement. I will retire on April 27, 2019 and will be out of town before the 28th!

I have found food on Carnival to be better then the free MDR on NCL and better then the food on my last RCI cruise. The food taste does vary from ship to ship, some Carnival chefs are better then others. I guess I set my expectation to the line I'm cruising on. If I was on Celebrity or HAL and got some of the food I thought was OK on Carnival, I'd be unhappy with it, but for the carnival price it was OK. Just like I know if I ever cruise NCL again I'd need the extra charge dining package so I would not have to eat in the MDR.

Hubby doesn't care for Carnival's food. I think it's fine.

On my one and only cruise so far, which was on Carnival, I thought some of the breakfast items were cold -- but that's partly because it takes a while to get everything, then get coffee, then find a table, then put everything down without spilling anything, etc. Not their fault. One thing I wish they had was trays, but again I'm not in charge.

Next time, I plan to solve this problem by getting breakfast in the MDR, where I assume things like eggs and pancakes are made fresh to order. I anticipate problem solved.

That made me laugh!!!

Escargo is a special treat (plus it is free). I get it every night after the first night in the MDR.

I have actually liked the food on Carnival.  I hope that  it is not slip-ping.

Actually, I really enjoy the snails on Carnival. Not so much the fish eggs. Too salty for me.

Then again, I also enjoy the "Stuff" on a Shingle on the morning buffet.

Food is food.  It is all in the taste of the eater.  I like "slop"  not fancy do gooder food like snails and fish eggs and all that mess.  Give me the basics and I am happy.  Carnival food makes me happy.  Not too fancy, really down to earth food and very tasty.  I love the steakhouses on the ships, good steak and shrimp for me.  Buffets have always great choices, main dining room is great, if it were not for the bragging tablemates..they leave a sour taste in your mouth.

We have enjoyed the food on Carnival ships. I think people sometimes forget that the chefs are trying to prepare about 3000 meals, and food will not be piping hot. It's really just banquet food at its finest on a Carnival ship and I'm fine with that.

You get what you pay for.  If I could afford HAL all the time, I'd be there.   Truth is, we are always  very pleased with NCL.

So many questions, so little answers. From reading many Carnival reviews, the food seems to be the biggest letdown for many reviewers. I am not sure what the reviewers expect, but I would think quality and cost have to be considered in the equation. Just my thoughts.

Didn't like the food? All the places to eat on a ship, and you didn't like it? hmmm.

Camp ocean was not good on the freedom either. My little man wanted to run around and play with the toys and not participate in "movie time." aka staff sit on your dead asses time. So we got to leave him there for exactly 30 mins before they were calling me saying "he's not in the mood to cruise today, please pick him up." Which is why we're going with Royal next time.

Seems high maintenance. Hey didn't like the food? Camp ocean was "ok"? Lol.... maybe Cunard would be a better choice.

"We didn't like the food"? Preparation? Selection? Was this something they did wrong, or that you were not happy with the available choices? Thanks!
