Review summary
We are regular cruisers out of Galveston and like the 5 and 7 day cruises because it fits our schedules and is a quick get away for our favorite Mexican locations, Cozumel and Merida (Progresso). We have been on the Estacy, Triump, Magic and the Liberty. Over the last few years though we have seen a slow change in Carnival and this trip has been no different. The quality of the food has changed, the variety of the food has changed and sadly the staff of the Liberty seems very tired. Very much different from the Magic crew. I guess each ships crew has its own personality that is shaped or formed by the higher up management aboard each ship. Of all the ships we have been on in 9 years the Liberty was a disappointment. We only ate in the main dining room once because our first experience with the wait staff was terrible. Got seated in a corner and ignored for 30 minutes before we got asked what we wanted to drink - and it was early in the evening and not that many people in the dining room. The drinks are expensive, the food quality is sliding and the staff is tired. The ship is rusting, the ships bottom is covered in a thick, lettuce like slime (we saw when we walked beside her in port) and all the windows are so covered in salt that you can barely see through them. Makes you wonder what else is being neglected that we cant see?!?!?!?!?! We made the best of the situation but our next cruise is in February on Royal Caribbean and we had already promised ourselves that we were done spending a week on a ship to only get 7 hours ashore on Cozumel - time to fly in and spend the week enjoying Cozumel and not having to putting up with sub standard service, food and expensive drinks.

I'd like to answer each of your comments about our review. CruisingGrayMan, you said,"No disrespect but looks like you made up your mind before boarding that you've had enough with Carnival". Please reread what I wrote, I did not say we were done with Carnival I said we are done with spending 5 or 7 days onboard a ship and only getting 7 hours in Cozumel. Cruising can be an inexpensive vacation but it is not the only kind of vacation I take. When we found Cozumel 11 years ago we discovered a paradise worth giving a week or two to explore. Having fallen in love with the little island we now feel its a shame to only get 7 hours there out of 5 or 7 days. Also, you said, "Nothing wrong with that but including green slime on the bottom of the ship as a cause for change is probably overselling it." You have pulled one segment out of a statement and kind of lost the overall importance of the review. Take the entire statement, "The ship is rusting, the ships bottom is covered in a thick, lettuce like slime (we saw when we walked beside her in port) and all the windows are so covered in salt that you can barely see through them. Makes you wonder what else is being neglected that we cant see?!?!?!?!?!". Now, the very last sentence, "Makes you wonder what else is being neglected that we can't see?" How unfortunate that for the second time in one month a technical issue has plagued the Liberty. But, doesn't this technical issue land right in the middle of "neglect we cant see". I like Carnival, its an affordable quick get away for us. Its just that we have seen changes. Remember that I go on to say, "We made the best of the situation....". I'm not bashing Carnival, I'm not bashing cruising. I love the fact that we don't have to drive the boat, cook breakfast lunch and dinner, clean the dishes, buy groceries or put together a menu for the week - I love that cruising eliminates all that. I'm just saying that for us we are ready to fly into Cozumel and get to see MORE of paradise in one vacation. Even if it does cost us more to fly, get accommodations and feed us daily. I was not taking a shot at Carnival, but you might be doing yourself a disservice by not broadening your palate and trying the competition. Especially since your counting the days till your at sea again. You might discover that someone else does it better! Perhaps all the posters on my review should read the most recent post by toodalootoo...........its hard to believe that my review would make such a stir - and then the technical issues would ring in just a few days later and justify the question, what else is being neglected that we cant see? Good luck to all those effected by this technical issue and hope all gets back to normal asap!

Liberty arrive approximately 11 hours late. It was hot and miserable inside waiting for debrarkation. Restrooms were filthy as staff was busy with debarkation. No refreshments. Difficult to maneuver through crowds of people sitting on stairs and in hallways with their luggage. Very disorganized debarkation. Ship had same generator issue the week prior, and departing again tonight status quo. How do they get away with this?!
