Review summary

We had a great time on this cruise. Have been on ships with larger state rooms (we had a balcony suite on deck 8, mid ship-8335), better food choices, more activities, bigger shopping mall, but this had to be the friendlies crew and most fun cruisers for any cruise we have ever taken (and we've been on several). Will certainly cruise with Carnival again! We plan to check out the Magic and other Carnival ships on our next vacations. The excursions we booked were great as well.

Food and Dining

Best hamburgers we have ever eaten at the burger joint on the Lido deck. Enjoyed the 24 hr. ice cream machine, the dining room food was OK, but the buffet was lacking.

VERY entertaining and great shows! We also enjoyed the comedy shows.

Our state room attendant was AWESOME and everyone was friends, helpful, and courteous. We especially loved Sidney, our cruise director. She was SO full of energy and such a sweetheart!!

Cabin / Stateroom

I understand it's a smaller ship, but upon first sight, was a little disappointed to see such a small stateroom, especially for a balcony suite. But since it was just my husband and me, we made it fine. Had we had our grands with us, it would have been a little 'tight'. We both use CPAP machines, so was freaked that there was only one plug in our stateroom and it was no where near the bed! We called guest services and got a heavy duty extension cord and duct tape and ran the cord across the room, duct taped it to the floor so we wouldn't trip on it, and under the bed so we could plug up our devices. There was a plug in the bathroom, but for some reason, it didn't have high enough voltage to run my flat iron. This ship really needs to do some updating to have more places for people to plug their phones, ipads and laptops as well as people with medical devices.

Ship tip

Take SEVERAL extension cords and multi plug adapters, and if you don't have a heavy duty cord in your stateroom, call for one. you need smaller extension cords to plug to the big one and some duct tape to tape them to the floor so you don't trip! There is only ONE plug in the state room.

Stay a few days and explore the Strand district and troll down Seawall Blvd. Very relaxing, but you will have NO DESIRE to swim in the gulf waters after seeing that beautiful blue seas in the Western Caribbean!

Take plenty of cash to have pics made with the many people who are dressed in the shopping areas and don't forget to 'haggle' for a better price on everything. They expect it!! Anyone who pays full price is getting gouged.

They will tell you there is NO SHOPPING in Progresso, but that's not true. If you don't have enough time to shop in Cozumel, plenty of port shopping in Progresso!

Boopylucy, we did the Mexican BBQ private beach day in Progresso and the Beach/Zip line excursion in Cozumel. Both were great!

We are going on this same ship October 31. What excursions did you go on? We have been on 3 other cruises all Carnival. Loved all of them can't wait to sail again.

The food us not as great as before carnival change the way they do business nowadays. A year or two the food was extremely good, don't know what happened but they need to go back to the old way.

Leslie7111, the noise level was fine, OR as far as I know. My husband wears hearing aids and takes them off at night, and I sleep with ear plugs because he snores so loud, so wouldn't really know, but our traveling companions were in state room 8332, and they never heard a peep. It's SO convenient to the Lido deck! Everything is right up stairs to food and fun just one floor above, and to be honest., I truly don't think you will hear anything. We never heard a peep even during the times during the day that we were in our stateroom. Enjoy your cruise!!

I've been on the magic twice, but my next cruise will be a first being on the liberty. Both on the magic were great. I love carnival - just wish the food was better.
