Review summary

This was my first time cruising and it was a HORRIBLE TRAGEDY!!!! A life was lost on board the ship and I have had nothing but nightmares for her and her family. Although I did not witness her going overboard it was quite obvious there was foul play and Carnival is doing everything in their power to cover this up. I saw where they had the deck roped off the entire trip and it is quite obvious there was a huge blood stain as well as a broken light and broker speaker that was by the railing. I HAVE PICTURES OF IT !!!!!! She struggled with someone before she went overboard in my opinion. There is NO way I will EVER believe she climbed on that rail by herself and fell backwards. The rails lean forward after all. I'd think you'd fall forward first. I think it is a terrible thing that Carnival has not even notified the other passengers to offer counseling of some sort for us who had to experience this. Nor did they offer any type of reimbursement or discount as this had ruined the trip for everyone due to this matter. I will NEVER cruise this cruise line again because of the way they have handled the incident. If they have video of her falling , THEN BY ALL MEANS SHOW IT!!!!! She was a human being folks and someones family member. Get to the bottom of this and give them some closure...... Please everyone keep Samantha family in your thoughts & prayers!!!! CARNIVAL YOU SUCK!!!!!!

It amazes me the lack of humanity people have. I can't imagine something like this happening to my family esp. one of my daughters. You can say so much on some website but to one of them personally? Just makes me so sad for everyone.

And to the lady that thinks carnival should reimburse her cause she may be distressed from this tragedy, you must not of listened to the cruise director when the ordered everyone to their cabins and to stay there while they did a search , you must of been learking around the corner being nosey . This family is going through enough not being able to bring home their wife, mother and daughter .

To all of you who you thinks you know what happened please keep your comments to yourself . This ladies husband , parents , friends who traveled with her and so on is reading all of this speculation. She was a wonderful person whos life was taken in a split second . No she was not murdered . One of my friends know her personally so this is why I can say what is going on .

If there is a murder at the Sheraton its not the hotel's fault. Liberty is a floating hotel. They have a duty to not panic guests. Murderers can go on cruises too. Have to watch your own back.

It sounds like Deenadolar has what is called an egg shell personality and it does not take much to effect her. So as the majority of people may be upset a bit by being on the ship where this happens but she may be very strongly effected by it. She did not see it happen, was not related to or know the person yet she has very strong issues with it.

I have been on a ship and saw a person go face down into his dinner and died, yes it put a bit of a damper on the trip but it was still a good cruise and I have kept cruising 20 years later.

I have read other reviews of this very cruise that gave it a 4 stars, they mentioned the death but still gave the ship and crew a fair review.

They aren't 5 feet high or I wouldn't be able to see over them :). They are pretty high though and curve inward so it takes some effort to go over one.

They are tall and lean inward so if u do fall u hit bottom railing before u fall off ship I was on paradise in June but all pretty well the same

I saw the video yesterday but tried to view it today and content was unavailable so I guess someone pulled the footage but yes she was sitting on railing with her back to the sea and,she fell back tried to catch herself phone fell and she lost her grip and fell hitting the boat below and went in the water

I saw the video she fell backwards trying to take a selfie so it's a death by selfie not foul play if their was blood it was cause she hit the boat below when she fell look the video up don't blame the staff cause she didn't have enough sense to not sit on a railing

It's not Carnivals fault that the woman fell over board. Things happen all the time. Should we blame car manufacturers when a wreck happens? I'm sure they have done everything they can to comfort the family. But be honest, it's not Carnivals fault. I feel for the family, but this was an unfortunate incident that had nothing to do with the cruise line.

How can possibly compare this to a mass shooting! No one came on that ship and started killing hundreds of innocent people. And furthermore, 2 separate news outlets have stated the "red spot" was determined by the Coast Guard, not the cruise line, to have been a spilled daquari with the broken glass still in the puddle.

If you Google this, it says the F.B.I is looking into this but it doesn't sound like they suspect foul play. People have been posting their 'proof' but it's just a picture of a wet spot on the deck. Could be blood, could be a margarita. It sounds like a tragic accident and no one reported her missing until the following day so there's no way to turn around and look for her. They called in the Coast Guard.

Someone jumped off Navigator of the Seas a couple weeks before our last cruise. They always say 'fell' out of respect for the family. Most people wouldn't want it all the news that their family member committed suicide or got drunk and decided they could stand on a railing.

It is terrible that someone lost their life, however, Carnival is not responsible for her death. A ship, after all, is a floating city full of people with unknown intentions. When something like this happens Carnival must have a protocol for handling the situation and has to investigate the incident. Let them do their job.

Why are you shouting? You're pissed off-we get it. I stopped at a fatal car accident while driving to my last cruise. Did I think about it later, while on the cruise? Yes. Did I expect Carnival (or anyone) to reimburse me or offer me counseling? No. A tragedy occurred. Period. All evidence suggest that 1 person is to blame - her. Maybe instead of pictures, you could send the money you won't be spending on another cruise to her kids college fund? Jeesh. Grow up!

Let me make myself clear. First off all I NEVER said I deserved a reimbursement for this incident nor would I expect one. I only said it was disappointing they didn't even offer anything to passengers. Not because someone died, it was my thought that how could ANYONE continue to enjoy their vacation after such a tragic event........ Why would you think people wouldn't need counseling of some type? This was a traumatic incident that the ship just kept going knowing she was out there somewhere. Don't they offer counseling to everyone when there are school shootings, Theatre shooting etc.... ???? This is just my opinion of it. She DID NOT FALL OFF THAT BOAT BY HERSELF AND THATS MY OPINION OF IT!!!! We all have the right to that . Until I see a video that proves this. I will never believe it happened. As far as photos I would never post those out of respect for her family. Although I have provided them to her family members privately... So if you don't like my review.... THEN DONT READ IT!!!!!!!

I believe that any compensation from the cruise line in the matter such as this would be limited to the immediate family of the person in question. I believe that this questions belongs in the hands of lawyers to settle. On the cruises I have been on there were two incidents involving the death of a passenger. In both case they were natural causes. There is always an expectation of something happening on board a cruise ship. They are like a small town. This however, should not dissuade you from future cruises, I hope you reconsider.

Why would you think you need a reimbursement or counseling offered or a video of someone dying by going over board and to say "a life was lost on board" i think a life was lost or given up when she hit the water from that high up. Get over yourself and just pray for the family she left behind.

We was on the carnival dream in 2013 and found out someone hung them selves two doors down from us...I never thought about getting reimbursed for that lol. ..good idea now that I think about...haha jk!!!!
