Review summary
The Liberty was a gorgeous ship; the seas were perfect as was the weather; the ports were excellent; our room was great and we had the best room steward and assisstant ever. However, there were some other things that didn't seem on par in comparison to the many trips we've made on Carnival in the past. Our dining room experience was not good at all. We were assigned to a table for 10. On the first night there were 8 of us and 2 of those said they would be moved to another dining room and wouldn't be with us again. On the rest of the nights there were either 6 or 4 and one night only 2 of us. Our service was extremely slow and we were never out of the dining room before 7:30 and sometimes later (we had the 5:45 seating). Our waiter was more concerned about being entertaining than getting our orders in and out. The menu was very limited compared to the past and the food was below par. We missed the selections of soup each night (which is my favorite part of the meal and also the ice cream/sherbet selections. My husband had only one meal that he was able to eat - the nights he ordered beef medium well done, they were served very rare and bloody and he was unable to eat them. The night we had veal neither of us were able to cut our meat much less eat it., The final night we went upstairs to the buffet for dinner. The buffets were excellent for lunch and the dinner we had was very good too. There seemed to be a great lack of entertainment in the lounges and some of the entertainers were better than others. The production shows were excellent and very enjoyable. We found that the daily schedule we received in our rooms was more often wrong than right concerning times and locations. I must say that the new luggage express feature was wonderful. We used it since we were flying from Miami to Denver and it was well worth the cost. The whole debarkation was very good and seems to improve with each trip. We have sailed on Carnival since our first cruise on the Mardi Gras and it just seemed that this time they were not up to par and it almost seemed that they were making great efforts to save money.
