Review summary

Carnival Liberty is a site to behold. From its 9-story atrium, ablaze with lights that change color, to the yellow diamond "necklaces" at Harry's Supper Club, you know you're onto something special. The decor wasn't as gaudy as I'd heard it was. Again, everything is subject to one's own interpretation, but we thoroughly enjoyed the marble floors, the inlaid tiles, the Harlequin theme of the Venetian Palace, and the scrollwork that was carried throughout the ship. Simply lovely.

Ports of call

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

We took an independent tour to visit Dunn's River Falls as well as tubing down the White River. Dunn's River Falls is a staple for Jamaica. You can climb up the falls or beside them on paved paths. Tubing down the White River was a highlight. The men who ran the tubing tours were with us the whole time, though about 1/2 way through, they stop you and want you to go up on the shore and buy trinkets from a craft market in the middle of a jungle. Aside from that, it was absolutely exhillarating and fun--plus you get to see really incredible scenery as you whisk past in your inner tube. GREAT FUN!
Don't Miss: Tubing down the White River!

Cozumel, Mexico

In Cozumel, we rented a Jeep and drove around the island. If you can get to it, the east side of the island is unpopulated and you can see the beautiful turquoise waters without interruption. It was lovely, though there are no services out there. We enjoyed the shopping at the port shops, and look forward to coming back to Cozumel to snorkel. We also took an excursion for a "Sunset Catamaran Sail" through Carnival and it was heavenly and fun... open bar, a beautiful breeze, dancing on deck, etc.
Don't Miss: Catamaran sunset cruise

George Town, Grand Cayman

We chose to go snorkeling on the Coral Reef and then visit Stingray City. It was the highlight of our trip. The waters in Grand Cayman are beyond description--so clear when you're in them, and such wonderful hues of blue when sailing on them. We loved EFFY Jewelers and Del Sol for shopping as well.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling and swimming with the Stingrays!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: Leaving the ship!
