Not if you go to Junkanoo. It’s a 15 minute walk and free. The sand is fine and the water clear.

You don’t have to you can walk / take a taxi to the public beach however you will get harassed to buy anything and everything you can imagine I once had a guy try to sell me a puppy most of the time a no thank you will give you about 20 seconds of peace until the next person ask they can be a little aggressive and overwhelming
