My husband and I have done about 20+ cruises, including others on Carnival. This particular cruise was the worst we've ever done. When you go on a cruise you expect to do many different activities, to have great food, and probably gain a few pounds in the process. This did NOT happen. We spent a lot of our time in the casino because there wasn't much to do.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Fairly simple. Not as organized as I've seen on other trips
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The food was terrible. We had to send food back or just not eat it. I've never seen lobster come out almost raw!
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The shows were not enjoyable and the pools were way to cold to get into. They actually emptied the pool 2 days before arriving in Vancouver because of the temperature.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Not a lot of selection in the casino, but what was there was enjoyable. Their payouts were not good.
Children's Programs
Did not have children aboard
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Most of the staff were very nice and helpful. It did seem that a lot of the personnel were new to the ship and not necessary familiar with the layout.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship was in need of a lot of repair. It turned out that after our cruise the ship was going to be put into dry dock for 6 weeks for repairs.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was kept clean at all times (great steward). We had the BEST balcony, but because it turned out to be so cold once we left Hawaii, we didn't get to use it as much as we would have liked.
Ship tip
Don't sail to Vancouver in April/May.... too cold.
Honolulu was nice (we stayed at a hotel 5 days prior to the ship stay). I've never boarded a ship and stayed in that port for another day and a half. Didn't really care for that. Honolulu was a little too metropolitan for our taste.
We did a snorkeling tour which turned out to be an issue. The boat that we were on had a captain who liked to go very fast over choppy water. My husband actually got his fingers cut up from having to hold onto a line with the boat bouncing around. The port had a little shopping but not much of anything else.
This trip was great. Even though it was windy, we were able to get to an area and snorkel for about 2 hours. The crew were very attentive and helpful. The port itself had nothing to offer.
We did a helicopter ride over the volcanoes (the one that just went off). It was great and a new experience for both my husband and myself. The port had nothing to offer.
For someone who says they've been on 20 + cruises your profile says you've only been on one. If you were an experienced Cruiser you would know you would get a the news letter (fun times )that tells you all the activities on the ship for that day.
