Review summary

This was my 45th cruise on Carnival and my overall 62nd cruise. My first cruise with Carnival was on the Jubilee in 2003. I was so excited when they named their newest ship Jubilee and I made sure that I would cruise on this one as well. My daughter and I went on this one and had a wonderful time. This ship is nice but they need to work on the food and some of their entertainment, but overall it was a decent cruise. Beautiful ship, but I have seen better.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was pretty smooth. Although they repainted the terminal to make it look new, I expected more. It was basically the same with just a fresh coat of paint. The staff was very helpful so I didn’t have any major problems once I got inside the terminal. It was still somewhat disorganized for me and I needed wheelchair assistance to board the ship. Once they got the assistance people together it went well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was good. I went there for breakfast and it was okay. The waiters seemed rushed and forgot things but eventually got it together. The buffet was okay at best. I am not a fan of the food on Carnival because it has been mediocre to horrible, but it was much better. Since I was on My Time Dining I had the opportunity to choose from three different restaurants each night which was a big plus for us. The Mexican food was delicious and the Asian cuisine was delicious as well. We ate at those locations every night. I am not a fan of Specialty Restaurants paying extra money for food that should have already been included. They are far too expensive.

Heroes Tribute Lounge

5 out of 5

Love it. Very relaxing

JavaBlue Cafe

4 out of 5

Was able to get coffee a few times without a long wait time.

Pizza Delivery

2 out of 5

Had to wait over an hour to get pizza. Lines are way too long

Street Eats

5 out of 5

Pretty decent food. My daughter loved it!

Lido Marketplace

3 out of 5

The food was pretty good at times.

Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse

4 out of 5

I ate there a few times. The food was pretty tasty and they had a nice selection. They needed to work a little bit on their greens because they were horrible. I like the location as it was right next to the Heroes Lounge so I could watch television .

Big Chicken

5 out of 5

I love Shaq’s Big Chicken and ate there multiple times. The chicken was tasty and the sauces were pretty good too. I tried to eat breakfast there but those biscuits were a big disappointment. They need to work on those biscuits because the were hard and like little hockey pucks. The fries were good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities were okay. Typical Carnival activities, not much different. This was my 45th cruise with Carnival so there is only so much they can do differently. I went to the jacuzzi’s and some of the onboard entertainment. The comedy shows were nice and I was happy to see they had more than one comedian. They had multiple shows that I was able to attend and enjoy. They had another area midship for entertainment but it was not very good entertainment. I was surprised they had those people onboard. Would rather they had something a little more creative.I found myself searching for something new and different to do. The movies were not that great and were shown at very odd times. Karaoke is the same as usual and their shows were nothing out of the ordinary. The best part was the cruise director, Kendall “Fire”. She was very exciting and enthusiastic. She was the life of the party and played a huge part in almost every aspect of fun and entertainment on the ship. She is one of the best cruise directors I had the pleasure of cruising with. They absolutely work her to death!

Tides Pool and whirlpools

5 out of 5

The whirlpool was very nice and I enjoyed it. I used them while most of the people were on excursions when we were in port.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Theater

4 out of 5

Very nice and the shows were okay

Casino

3 out of 5

Not very impressed and lost all my money very quickly. They seem to cater to people with casino credits. I didn’t stick around.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service was good and the staff was great. Room stewards had too many rooms to take care of. The waiters in the dining rooms were good.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship layout and design is confusing in some aspects and made it difficult to get around. The ship was still in Inaugural mode (3rd voyage) so everything was clean and new.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Ship tip

If you need to reserve anything, do it prior to your arrival on the ship. Bring along some comfortable shoes and be prepared to do a lot of walking.

Ports of call

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Didn’t leave the ship, been here many times. Nice port for new people.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went smoothly once we figured out what was going on. We disembarked earlier than I thought and that was great!
