Review summary
Great getaway from the hustle of so cal life for a few days. Definitely an entry level cruise with many first timers, but overall a great bargain and fun cruise. Our cruise was about half full so few if any crowds on board and plenty of things to do or just relax like we did.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We bought Faster to the Fun and basically walked from our car onto the ship. They had our sign and sail cards waiting for us at our cabin, which was ready when we boarded at 11:45am! We left our carry-ons there and proceeded to enjoy the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Could be that we were spoiled by our last cruise on Royal but it seemed the food on the Carnival ship was not as good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Many activities to choose from, but we just relaxed and did not participate.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The performers were very good and talented, however the productions were not up to what we are used to. Not the performers fault.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Great friendly service.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Obviously and older, well used ship, however it was kept clean and felt sanitary. We did see cups and food plates left in the elevators a few times. Who leaves such things in the elevators? Different class of travelers I guess!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Very clean room. Small but comfortable. Window was dirty on the outside which detracted from being able to clearly see things, but it did provide light and made the cabin seem bigger.
This port has really upgraded itβs waterfront area. Very safe and secure with not pushy sellers bothering you until you hit the streets. Took a Carnival sponsored excursion for meal preparation and unlimited margaritas. Very fun and good value. Nothing sketchy or unsafe and no up sell.
With Faster to the Fun we could leave when we wanted and took our time. Luggage was waiting for us and the line through Customs and Border Protection took about 15 minutes.
