If they didn’t add the gratuity on a lot of people wouldn’t pay any. We always pay extra to our room steward and dining waiter and assistant.

What additional gratuities?? Did you tip extra? The pre paid gratuities? They are paid as follows According to Carnival, 100 percent of the $13.99 gratuities go to the shipboard crew; the breakdown is as follows: $4.35 for the housekeeping team ($6.35 for suites), $6.89 for the dining team and $2.75 for alternative services (behind the scenes staff)
