Review summary

Very organized and well trained staff that was friendly and helpful. The ship was clean and well maintained. But the omnipresent music on every inch of the ship was obnoxious and exhausting. The food was very disappointing and bland. I have celiac disease and I consumed gluten due to lack of appropriate allergen labeling which significantly hurt my enjoyment of the trip. The ports were fine. By the end I felt terrible because of the gluten and was very frustrated by the lack of quiet after the constant bombardment of obnoxious music.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food was bland. The waits long for the restaurant in the Mardi gras room. I have celiac disease and despite being careful I invested gluten which made my trip miserable. A simple label on buffet food and menus would have been a life saver. Please label your food with common allergens.

Mardi Gras Dining Room

3 out of 5

Took a long time to be seated and to get food. Selection was nice but food was bland.

Guy's Burger Joint

4 out of 5

Best food on the ship.

Brasserie Bar & Grill

2 out of 5

Lots of choices but the food was bland. No allergen information so I ate food that I was allergic to despite being careful.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The pools were crowded and music was everywhere. There was no place on board that was quiet, not even in the library or bathrooms. The constant bombardment of obnoxious music was exhausting and irritating.

Mini Golf

3 out of 5

The balls were too light and were blown around by the wind.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Most musicians were not good, the DJs played very annoying music. Because of the omnipresent music I did not bother with the stage shows because I was desperate for quiet.

Shakespeare Library

3 out of 5

Nice selection of games and I liked the decor. It was nice to look at the books too. Many of the books were part of a series and not the first book which was a bummer. Wish there was no music in the room.

Art Gallery

5 out of 5

Very bad art.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was excellent. Everyone was kind, helpful, and pleasant. Nevana from Serbia was particularly fantastic in food service. She was pleasant, helpful, considerate, and remembered us. A+ job.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was clean and well maintained. The bed however was hard as a rock and I woke up several times because my shoulders hurt.

Ship tip

Bring earplugs.

Omnipresnt music? Really? Loud and obnoxious? So many different varieties. I beg to differ about finding quiet spots on the ship. There are so many places to sit and read quietly. I have done it. Also, the library is always quiet. I bet if you really tried you could have eaten GF. Fruit , veggies and meat. As well as eggs. In MD you can ask your server to make sure you are eating GF . No sauces. I know carnival has GF bread. You definitely can get dietary help if you ask. In 11 cruises, 4 of them on the Inspiration, I have never had a hard bed. They are usually very comfortable. Cruising might not be for you.
