Review summary
I'm ready to go again! Love being taken care of for four days, makes me feel rich! Loved being able to eat anytime day or night, enjoyed the shows and the beds were comfy.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Not too bad for the amount of people they were trying to process. However, that said, they need to put some ventilation in the processing area-it was so hot in there I thought people were going to pass out.
The check in agents were nice and very patient though.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The Guy Fieri hamburger was excellent. Areas were clean and well stocked. The anytime dining is a nice feature. You aren't tied to a particular time. The dinners were good, not spectacular. Service people were nice and fairly efficient.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We were on an older ship, so not really exciting activities per se (art auctions, bingo, trivia games). Mostly daytime touring and lay by pool stuff. Nighttime shows were pretty good. Good comedy club and cute production shows.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Two good comedians and a talented cast for the production (singing/dancing shows). Energetic DJs, some do it yourself entertainment (karoke, god they were awful, fun to watch).
Children's Programs
no kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward was very on top of things and very cordial, as were all of the other staff we interacted with. Everybody greeted with a smile and a good morning (or evening, as the case may be). The dining and bar staff were polite and efficient as well.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Considering the amount of people and the age of the ship, it seemed clean. The ship is obviously in need of upgrading, it is old and somewhat worn but seems to be in good enough repair. The staff is always busy trying to keep it clean. Quite a few of the public restrooms seem to have out of order toilets.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was kept very clean kudos to our room steward I Ketut- he was always on top of things! Again, the ship is showing it's age and much use, but everything worked and was clean.
Ship tip
Try to figure out the shortcuts from deck to deck the first day or you will be working off the buffet more than you want to! Also, really read stuff so you don't miss any of the shows or activities you want to do. The Carnival Hub App was really useful.
Didn't dp an excursion. We have taken this particular cruise 4 times so have seen what Long Beach has to offer. The Queen Mary docks literally next door to the Inspiration and is kind of a fun thing to tour if you have a day before or after your cruise.
A lot of kitschy stuff to buy on the main drag. However, if you choose to take an excursion there, plenty to do besides shop for "stuff". We have done pretty much everything there and it is all fun. Rent a golf cart and drive up and down the hills to look the place over if you don't feel like parasailing or kayaking (those are fun). The tour of the Casino was interesting.
Lots of "stuff" to buy. It's fun to pick a place like Pappas and Beers or Hussongs and dig in for the afternoon with some guac and beers or margaritas - watch the other crazy tourists!
We are going on the Imagination this Sunday & following the same itinerary you just completed! My husband & I have done this short getaway many times & just love it!
