Review summary

I truly enjoyed it. The only "complaint" that I have is in regard to the spa services. I went on the last day due to a "special" that was being offered that was affordable. Otherwise, the prices are not very affordable. I got a mani-pedi on Catalina Island for much less. Also, at the end of my spa session, the attendant was very pushy about the products for sale in the spa and was pressuring me to spend a couple hundred more dollars on products. It was more than just "asking" and was very uncomfortable. I had to say "No" three times before my answer was accepted. Although she did a great job with the massage and facial, I left rather anxious about the sales pitch....not a good feeling.

Excellent

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I enjoyed the buffets but the Mardi Gras dining room food was disappointing. The breakfast buffets were awesome and I loved the tacos and hamburger options. I felt that the desserts and the evening meals could both use much improvement.

Service and Staff

Very attentive, helpful and available.

Ship Quality

Very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Comfortable, but tight for (2) people. The shower curtain was tricky to place to keep from flooding the bathroom floor with water.

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

LOVED IT!!! Shopping and spa day.

Ensenada, Mexico

I did not enjoy my shopping excursion due to the hassle of being approached to buy something constantly. I know that's not anything that Carnival can control.

Disembarkation

Very confusing. I'm not sure what happened, but it was mass chaos!

I won a spa treatment in a bingo game. When I went to use it, I was harassed for the entire length of the spa treatment to purchase products I simply wasn't interested in and couldn't afford. Most pushy situation I ever experienced while cruising. 😐

twangster is right as usual! We did the same, last day couples massage discount. High pressure sales at the end. BUT what a massage in a secluded topside cabana open to the ocean.

I love going to spas. But thank you so much for your review. I will have to pass the spa on my upcoming cruise.

I've heard reports that the spa is operated by an independent company, much like the casino is. They don't get any of the ship gratuity and such and work under contract of the spa company, which has structured the compensation plan to drive such behavior. Just a rumor I heard.
