Review summary

We are grandparents on a family vacation. This trip offered a chance to be with the grandkids while they enjoyed a number of fun activities and to visit with our daughter, their mother, at the same time

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Enjoyed great continental breakfast options, pirate pizza, sandwich deli and evening dining.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Visited most venues with the grandchildren. They enjoyed mini-golf, water slides and pools.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Enjoyed playing bingo. Went to the comedy show, think the male comedien on my trip should get new material and forget the Cajun stuff. Been to Louisiana quite a few times but still didn't think that stuff was much fun.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My grandchildren enjoyed their time with their club and wanted to stay later in the evening.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our cabin attendant did a good job for the most part. See my comments in the cabin section.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Common areas were clean. Layout worked well for us. Design in buffet area very dated.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Our cabin had a carpet problem. Apparently it was necessary to shampoo the carpet the day of our embarkation. So whenever we left our cabin, staff set up a fan to dry the carpet. It took two days to get to the dryness staff wanted. Not sure what had happened but guess it needed it. We received a $50 credit on our bill from guest services for this inconvenience. Also the temperature control is very difficult to manage. That is because it is in the cabin ceiling. So we needed to climb up and work with it. Not a good thing.

Ship tip

This is a good cruise for families, including grandparents, with younger children. Lots of fun things to do and 4 nights is the right length of time for everyone.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
Good port for starting point. Lots of other activities in the area to do before and after a cruise.

Catalina Island, California

4 out of 5
Liked the tender boats used to go to Catalina as they were roomy and comfortable. Did not buy an excursion but enjoyed walking around the town..

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
Family went fishing and had a great time. Caught a lot of fish and ate some of the catch at a local restaurant.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Speedy disembarkation by zone. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the buffet before leaving..

This is so nice you can all be together. Well, at least at dinner (and hopefully much more). Wish you had good times together and many happy cruise memories to rekindle .
