Review summary
Overall it was a very good cruise. I was impressed with the cleanliness of our state room and really enjoyed the entertainment. The one thing Carnival must work on is their App. The App is great for telling you what going on now and where to find it but the messaging part was not great. Our trip was 1/2 business and 1/2 pleasure and there were 19 of us. The App needs to provide more of an alert. We'd only be alerted when we went into the App, which made communicating with everyone very difficult. Also, having everyone pay $5 was not worth it.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
good - parking was a little difficult and climbing down stairs w/suitcases was a little challenging
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Overall - ok. Our main dining experience was difficult. I don't think the waiter understood us very well.
Food was ok too. Pork chop tough, presentation of food - not too impressive. Lido deck buffet was better. Desserts on Lido were wonderful.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I went to the fitness center 3 days. I was surprised it didn't open before 6. Equipment was well maintained. Only wished we had wipes to wipe down equipment after use - especially now with viruses and colds going around.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Fun - enjoyed the comedy and the shows (Divas - Rock & Roll). I had a great time participating in the 80's Trivia. The comedian was hilarious.
Children's Programs
No kids this time.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Rooms were good. Our Room Steward did a great job (Made was his name). Bartenders were nice and provided great service. Just our main dining waiter had trouble understanding us. For example, he handed half of our table menus. Then when we asked for more menus - he brought them but seemed to insist on taking the orders from those he just handed the menus to first. We suggested 3 times for him to start with other who had menus and he didn't understand. Also, morning time at other dining area - I ordered toast. No butter, no jams or anything else came with it. I tried to ask but waiters were too busy and I couldn't get their attention. My co-worker ordered oatmeal, no brown sugar or raisins were brought. But we received those condiments the day before. Staff needs more training and what to offer when you bring food out.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
For the most part yes.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our room was good. Bed comfortable, size was what I expected and Made kept our room clean and when we ran into him, he always asked if we needed anything.
Overall it was good and pretty fast. As we were about to get onto the bus going to Convention Center the handicap/wheel chair access lift broke so it took us longer to get back to the car. The Bus drive did not seem too familiar with using that system and may have broke it.
One reason the gym may not open very early and/or restrict some equipment use is because it is often over cabins and they don't want noise waking the people up too early. You can always jog around the deck or climb the stairs while waiting.
