Review summary

After this experience I am not sure that I will ever travel through Carnival again. I was told that I declined the trip protection so they couldnt do anything but provide me $109 towards another cruise. Mind you the broken ankle was caused by something that was NOT my fault. Due to this happening the first full morning of my trip I was unable to do much of anything. Super disappointing!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was great. The hype of everyone's moods definitely got us excited.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

I really hate that we were charge 18% on our drink package for tips, and then another fee by the end of our cruise for "tips" but they make you sign for every drink and there is a place for an additional tip. We did not tip at the Rum Bar after our first drink, and the next drink we got from there had ZERO alcohol in it. We heard the bartenders say something to eachother under their breath....and im pretty sure they were making sure we paid for the fact that I didnt leave them an additional tip.

Onboard Activities

The "pool" is hardly that. I was dissapointed by the size and that it was only used by children. We expected a few days of pool time....but didnt get in at all due to the fact that it was ALWAYS full of splashing kids.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to the comedy club and laughed a lot. We also enjoyed the live bands. Their talent was great and the entertainment was fantastic!

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
This was a give and take. We LOVED some of the bartenders and the staff that cleaned our room was great. The medical staff was also fantastic...but I slipped in a puddle of water at the bottom of some stairs and they told me there was no fracture. The day after returning home I went back to the doctor because my ankle was getting worse, and was told that I did in fact fracture it....So take what you want from that. Either it was a simple overlook...or they just didnt care. Either way.....here I sit with a broken ankle.

Ship Quality

PLEASE please PLEASE make sure to put something for anti slip at the bottom of any stairs! I was walking towards the front of the ship when I slipped in a puddle that was pooling at the bottom of the stairs. I tried to step over it but I was unable to due to the size. As I lay on the ground trying to push past the pain - someone else almost fell. They didnt end up slipping due to the fact that I was surrounded by people and someone grabbed her hand to help her down. This is a HUGE hazard that needs to be looked into.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I spent a significant amount of time in my room due to the fall that I had. It was clean...

Ship tip

If you are an adult that is not traveling with kids, dont plan on being able to use the pool. Also, watch for the slip hazards where water pools up at the bottom of the stairs. This can ruin your ENTIRE vacation before it even starts. :(

The pool and the jacuzzis were also filthy. The pool was really small and filled completely with kids. Each of the jacuzzis were packed, as well, and difficult to get in and out. It was really disappointing as I had looked forward to using them.

We are on imagination now and readying to leave port. Had the buffet and it is not what I remember. We are platinum on Carnival. Our cabin has no fridge and no ice bucked but we did get an ice bucket from guest services. It is a plastic ice cream bucket with saran wrap covering and they expected a tip. We have been cruising with Princess and Norwegian our last 10 cruises. If this is the way this cruise continues it will be our last Carnival cruise.

Fractures can be hard to diagnose initially so it may not be their fault. Sorry to hear the limitations to your holiday fun. Xx

We always buy the protection plans, you just never know what can happen. The cheers package includes the tips for all your drinks. The gratuity’s added at the end of your cruise are for your cabin stewards, you should have read all of that in your agreements before you purchased your cruise tickets. Everything is pretty much explained before you purchase the tickets, you have to check a box that you agree with the terms. Sure you save money not buying the protection plan, but when or if something happens it is so worth it in the long run. We love Carnival and will be doing our 3rd cruise with them this year. Hope your ankle heals quickly!
