Review summary

LOVED this cruise! This was our first cruise with kids and we wanted something short to see if they liked it, how they handled being on the ocean and if there were enough activities for them. This met and surpassed our expectations. The kids now want to go on a 10 day cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was fast and easy. We purchased Faster to the Fun and were escorted directly on to the boat. No waiting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food and drinks were great. This was the first cruise that we actually ate at the buffet. All other cruises we ate in the dining rooms or at Guys Burgers/Cantina. Pleasantly surprised by the Buffet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
This was our first cruise with kids. I was impressed with how many activities they had for them. The waterslides, of course, but also towel animal folding and towel animal theater, Dr. Seuss breakfast and parade, etc. And then there was the kids club. I thought it would just be a spot to drop kids off and they would hang out. No they had planned activities and our kids LOVED It. They begged to go there.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Carnival always has the best comedians. We saw both the G rated and the R rated comedy shows and both had us in stitches. This cruise we also saw the EPIC ROCK show and that was fantastic. The music and lighting were spot on and the dancers/singers were delightful. I was dancing and singing (I’m sure I annoyed the people in front of me - but I was having a great time!!!)

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our kids LOVED the kids club. Each time we picked them up they walked out with something different - a straw, a backpack, a craft, a cookie, etc.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I don’t think I’ve ever had bad service on a Carnival Cruise. This cruise we especially enjoyed and appreciated Jermaine - the bar waiter that walked around the Lido Deck/Pool area. He was very attentive and knew exactly who we were.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had 4 of us in a room. It was kind of small - but it was an interior cabin and we really only slept in it. For the time that we were there it was fine. The only down side was the pull down beds overlap the King Size bed on the ground so getting in and out of that bed was a bit laborious - but it was fine. I still gave it a 5 star because it was a decent room and worked for our needs.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

We parked in the parking lot right there by the terminal. It was easy getting in. Getting out was a nightmare. It took my husband over 30 minutes to get the car, get out of the garage and then come around and pick us up with our luggage.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did not do an excursion. We simply got off the ship and walked into town.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
I would say Disembarkation was the most difficult part of our cruise. There seemed to be no order, and there were no directions. We stood in a long line for over 20 minutes until we were told that we needed to go find our luggage and then get back in line. Other than that little part there, getting off the boat was painless.
