Carnival Imagination

4 Night Catalina & Baja Mexico (Los Angeles Roundtrip)

Sail date: December 10, 2017

Ship: Carnival Imagination

Cabin type: Inside

Cabin number: E142

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

Way too many kids unsupervised running amuck. The main pool hot tubs were jamb packed with children and unusable to adults. The adult designated areas is too small and does not offer a smoking area. The cruise line seems to want to cater to being a floating child day care center. Not sure Carnival is right for child free adults.

Embarkation was uneventful.

Food and Dining

The food was as you would expect from Carnival. I ordered the lobster upgrade for $20.00 and was served over cooked rubber. I suggest you not buy that upgrade. The captains prime rib was good. Breakfast was good but lacking smokes salmon, which is a favorite for me at breakfast. Be SURE to turn OFF Data Roaming on your phone for the entire time on board, Carnival will hit you hard with data charges for background apps that might be running...

Cabin / Stateroom

No balcony's, TV channels are limited and poor standard definition quality. I know many people say that its not about the room on cruise, but for me I like a comfy place.... With no balcony's available on the ship I opted for an inside room and its was VERY small and uncomfortable. The bed had two mattresses that would NOT stay together. The steward could not fix it nor could guest services. It was annoying as hell to have them slip apart each night as we slept. Just sayin....

Ship tip

The booze package was NOT worth the cost and they will count your drinks and limit you to 15 per day with or without the pre-purchased packages.

You were each drinking 15 drinks a day? I would think that's enough to kill someone. Limiting people's alcohol consumption is most likely so they don't have unruly drunken people aboard.

This class ship along with inspiration do not have balconies. Please check the deck layout of the ships prior to booking. Short cruises don't offer lobster..sorry..as far a kids...every ship has them but if you don't wanna bee bombardedwith kids try Norwegian cruise line's..or celebrity...the cost is a lil more but they are more upscale. Your cell carrier hit you with roaming charges..not carnival...airplane mode is a MUST

Don't book on lines that cater to families, especially when kids are out of school, if you want to avoid munchkins. Just common sense.

Short cruises do not include lobster on any line. Not sure any line has smoking areas in the adult only area either. Your cell phone company hits you with roaming charges not Carnival. The on board cell tower is provided by cellular@sea not Carnival just like on other lines. I would highly suggest researching before booking, everything you mention is well known. If you wanted a balcony, book a ship that has them.
