Review summary

My grandmother went to the cloud9 spa and was talked into spending $3000 on cosmetic treatments and then found later they added $1000 in gratuity without mention of a dollar and then they tell us come back Friday to sort this out. Now she goes and gets her bill from the boat and now suddenly it’s over $7000!!!!! They claim this had been the price the entire time which is ENTIRELY false but yet she’s being charged this amount in full. A $4000 lesson is what she’s calling it, I call it the biggest scam ive ever been unfortunate enough to be a part of. Do urself a favor and don’t go! The ONLY other two guests we discussed this with also went to the spa, and SURPRISE SURPRISE they were both charged much more than they were told about as well. Scam artists at their finest they are!

I too had major issues with the spa! I prepaid for a Mother/daughter and Father/son massages and two facials for me and my daughter. Well when J got there they said it was a 25 min massage - and I had to show them I paid for 50 min.. well they gave me the full massage but on 25 to my husband and son.. (they had to come back later in the week for another 25. ) yea they tried to sell me a ton of stuff too. Well then I was charged on my ship bill for the massage.. after going to them 5 times to get it fixed (they kept trying to call corporate but “they must be on break” I went to guest services. They explained that the spa is owned by a separate entity so when you prepay , that goes to Carnival.. then after the service they bill ya for it plus gratuities. Then could be a day later or more you’ll get a credit from Carnival for what you paid to offset it.. (the spa people didn’t tell me this though so it just looked like I was paying twice!). So frustrating!!

Omg...thanks for sharing. I immediately canceled all my spa services! Someone also mentioned in a review that the nail services are crap and only last a few days.

Those spa people get their money directly from cruise passengers so I hear. So it's no surprise they will up sell. What happened to your grandmother is truly criminal. Thanks for the warning.

The Carnival Spa sells are extremely pushy, hard sell and aggressive. I am so sorry that they took advantage of her but I am not surprised. I sincerely hope that Carnival will straighten out her account

I avoid the spa. Hard sells are not for me. Go there to relax, end up dreading the whole service knowing the pressure sale is about to come. No more spa for me either. Carnival should take note of what is going on there!

Appreciate your details. All the previous comments cover my thoughts. A similar lesson (not quite as expensive) is why we check our account daily and sometimes several times a day. Sorry this happened. Hope your cruise was otherwise a good one.

That sucks, I’m sorry that happened to her. I’ve heard similar experiences with the spa so I will definitely avoid. Hopefully your grandmother can get everything sorted out.

The spa services are contracted, not Carnival staff. At least, that's what I was told. My last two experiences with the spa were negative. I don't even bother with them anymore.

At the end of your cruise, I have found that you do not use their gratuity. You pay your gratuity to the person that did you good?
