Great cruise without the kid! Enjoyed the whole trip, would sail Horizon again for sure.
Embarkation

First time at Miami. Walked right in at our arrival al time, through security, and on the ship in less than 30 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food depended on the venue. Pig and anchor was great, MDR food wasn't bad, but service was a little on the slow side. Buffet food was better than our Mardi Gras sailing last year, not terrible for a buffet. Steakhouse was excellent.
The Carnival Deli
4 out of 5
Food was good, but the ladies working there were about the only unfriendly staff we encountered
Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse

Cucina del Capitano

Included lunch pasta bowls were good
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Attended some of the deck parties, same old stuff. We had a Havana room and spent a lot of time in the havana pool area. That was amazing on all the sea days-never crowded!
Entertainment
4 out of 5
New cruise director this sailing, Pauley. He was just okay. Stage shows weren't bad. We liked the vintage pop and celestial strings. Musicians throughout were good too.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
With the exception of the deli staff, everyone was very friendly and hard working. Some standouts, our stateroom attendant William, pig and anchor bar tender Danni, Harley the pool attendant, and Ava who led our behind the fun tour!
Ship Quality

First time on Vista class. We liked the layout. Like all ships, hate having to travel through the smoke filled casino to get from one end to the other on 4. Carnival got the Havana area right on this class. Absolutely loved that area! Ship was very clean. Air conditioning was hit or miss around the ship, but overall, loved the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin 5224 havana cabana. Standard room, has a little different decor, but like any other room. Didn't like the crack in the bed when pushed together, but bed was comfortable. Liked the cabana being steps away from the pool area. Enjoyed room service breakfast out each morning. Downside is the ocean view gets blurred after a few days at sea and the glass gets dirty.
Ship tip
If you want quiet, uncrowded pool/bar/hot tubs on sea days, a Havana room is for you! (Doesn't have to be a cabana-there are different types)
Taxi to Mambo Beach for the day. Cab was $8/person to get there. $5 for a chair and $3.50/person admission. Nice beach, did some snorkeling and shopping. Walked the downtown area as well.
Pelican adventures catamaran snorkel excursion was great. Crystal clear waters, nice bbq lunch, and some beach time. Also, with a long port day, had time to walk around and do some shopping.
Digital debark worked well, we were ahead of schedule for the estimated time. 45 minutes from leaving the buffet, off ship, collect luggage, get uber, and arrive at the airport.
