Review summary

Carnival Horizon was awesome! This was my first cruise, my husband’s second cruise and it was our honeymoon!! We had so much fun. Definitely 10/10 for a honeymoon experience. They give you a lot of perks and little gifts on the app when they find out! We had a blast. We will definitely be doing a cruise again soon

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was extremely easy to get on the ship. We traveled from Miami airport in Uber, got dropped off and went right on through, no problems. Tip: make sure your boarding passes are printed out prior to arriving and keep your luggage with you!!! So much easier than the whole drop off thing…

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Everything was fantastic! The food was great at all the places on the ship. Im also gluten-free and they had options at every single place there was to eat. I also liked how the lido marketplace would switch up some of the buffet items as well so it wasn’t the same options each day. 24 hour room service too! 👍🏼

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was always something to do! I really liked how organized the app was with their itinerary, showing the hours of operation for certain areas, food joints, etc. that was really convenient! My husband and I enjoyed everything. I would say that there was always a bunch of people in the hot tubs at all times, especially at night. There should be some kind of time limit for smaller hot tubs, but this didn’t affect our time, just an observation👍🏼

Entertainment

5 out of 5
My husband and I didn’t really participate in the music / DJ aspect of the ship, but they seemed to have a good turn out for that and we love comedy so we went to the comedy shows several times throughout the trip and loved it👍🏼 2 of the comedians were hilarious!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff was AMAZING!!! From the restaurants to guest services to our room stewards, everyone was wonderful. We never had a major issue, but a few small things we had got fixed and dealt with immediately, no problems. The waiters were always friendly and amazing, great hospitality. Our room steward Tony was the bomb!! He was so kind and when he found out it was our honeymoon, he left a note on our mirror and a cute towel set up on the bed. No complaints about any worker on the ship!! If you see a bad review about staff, it’s probably the person writing it who had the problem, not the cruise workers🤣

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I thought the layout of the ship was great! I was still confused by the end of the cruise for how to navigate where I was going… my husband would say I just have no sense of direction 🤣 but very easy to find everything and easy to understand. Everything was clean. One time we even saw a worker scrubbing something on the lido deck with a toothbrush… get these people a raise!

Cabin / Stateroom

We were on deck 7 with a balcony room! King size bed. The room size was perfect for my husband and I. It was clean too. Felt like home once we unpacked. I enjoyed it very much!! Having that balcony was worth it

Ship tip

1. Book your excursions before the day you port (they bring your tickets to your room day before, some excursions sell out quickly, & it just makes everything smoother) 2. Keep your luggage with you!!! I don’t know how the luggage drop off worked because this was my first cruise, but it was no hassle at all keeping ours with us and it makes your check in easier and debarkation easier because you can leave right away and it was nice having our luggage with us when we got to our rooms so we could change.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
There was a lot to do at this port alone, lots and lots of stores and places to eat! We did the dolphin swim excursion with all you can eat food and drink. It was amazing!!!! there wasn’t a lot of food options, just a few things on the menu but still no complaints. The excursion listed that paddle boarding and kayaking was also included but when we got to Dolphinarus that was not the case. They said we had to have prior ocean experience. So when they ask you just say yes lol

George Town, Grand Cayman

We did the reef and wreck snorkel excursion and it was so fun!!! The tour guides were great! We didn’t do a whole lot after the excursion, just walked around some of the souvenir shops at the port.

Disembarkation

This was a great experience for us! No problems at all! Again, keep your luggage with you!! It makes the process so much easier… in my opinion from what I was seeing. I liked how they even offered breakfast in the morning still as well.
