Review summary

I feel like this could just not be the right cruise line for us. By the end, my kids were bored and could not wait to get home. Would I go again on carnival, yes but perhaps not with the kids. We will be trying RC next year so we will see if that might suit our family a bit better. But in the words of my good friend Tracey: "Any cruise is better than no cruise!" And that is a statement I can agree with!

Embarkation

There was a delay in getting on the ship as the previous cruise was delayed getting off the ship. We had FTTF but did not really get the benefit of getting on early to explore while the ship was less populated. Also, there were doors that closed off rooms stating that they would be available after 1:30 so we could not drop off our bags as indicated by FTTF.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was okay. Buffet was somewhat repetitive. The MDR food was small portions (which isn't a bad thing) and not very nicely plated. We were not a big fan of the updated menus. The grilled chicken is more pan fried and get a sauce for it! The soup in the MDR were good. Also, if you do the teppanyaki come with an appetite. You get all of the appetizers listed and a sh$t tonne of butter. Also, the shrimp are the large ones with a head, legs and shells (just in case you are not prepared for that).

Onboard Activities

I feel like more could be added. We did the Trivia, Bingo and Deal or no deal which a member of the audience won a 5-day cruise. There wasn't much that we were interested in.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The staff do an impressive job of taking care of guests and the ship. Our Room Attendant was lovely but she preferred everything on her terms. She asked us on day one if we preferred day or evening, I said evening and she was like "or I put you down for morning because I have assistants then" okay then why did she even offer evening? Also, In my other cruises I don't remember having them knock on the door so often to get us out of our room. This was a daily thing. Our MDR servers were good but we only did the MDR 3 times.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean and our balcony cleaned 2x during our cruise. They were painting the exterior during port days and I think they do a good job of keeping it clean. I was surprised with how few hand sanitizer stations there were on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

Way too hot. Very uncomfortable during the day and would cool overnight but for the most part too hot.

Ship tip

They claim to have some sort of certification in Sensory Awareness....I don't see how. If you don't like loud music, lots of people, low lighting it might not be the cruise for you.

Ports of call

La Romana, Dominican Republic

Just did shipping in port and a brief dip in the pool. Tried to order a drink at swim up bar but was ignored for 15 mins so I gave up.

Oranjestad, Aruba

It rained all morning and was cloudy in the afternoon and this was the port I was looking forward too the most. We walked to Druif Beach and walked right back. I will need a redo of this port because I know it is fabulous.

Miami, Florida

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

We were supposed to be the o ly ship in port but another ship had to reverse their itinerary due to storms so it was incredibly busy. We went into port for shopping but did not do the pool that was there.

Bonaire, Netherlands Special Municipality

Did a tour with beach stop at Sorroban Beach. Great tour! Great Beach!

Disembarkation

It was a mess and I think it was due to calling self assist guests down by muster station and people thinking they could go down when their muster station is called. Again, we had FTTF and were given bag tags with the number 2. We'll, by the time they got through self assist (about an hour and a half), they called tags 1 through 12. We were in a cab by 10:30.

Appreciate your detailed feedback. For the sensory information, one must go to customer service where headphones and other information are available. Sorry you were disappointed.
