Embarkation

Very easy and simple, Carnival always knows how to smoothly get people on the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Always a A+ for me. From Guy’s Burger Joint, to the pizza bar, and to the deli, the food is always top tier. You can always find something eat at any time!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
2 Pools, Plenty of Entertainment Activities, Parties, Clubs, SkyRides, Ropes Course, 8 Ball, Casino, Basketball, Comedy Clubs, and AN IMAX THEATER. The list can go on, there is so much to do on this ship you are never bored. Only Criticism is during our last day there was limited activities to do, but it still was fun 7/8 days of the trip
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows, Comedy Clubs, Music, and Performers were all top tier. Got to shoutout the cruise director Cousin Cookie! He was an absolute blast and my favorite cruise director i’ve ever had, unfortunately this was his last voyage on the Horizon. Cookie did have his replacement “Leon” on board and used him for alot of activities, and the Horizon is in good hands with him, he brings similar energy as Cookie
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Although i didn’t travel with children this trip, i noticed there was plenty of kids entertainment. And for those who have kids with sensory issues, there are SO many sensory safe places for those in need.

Ship Quality

The ships layout is very easy to navigate and I quickly was able to find my way around the ship after 1 day. They just implemented a new electronic elevator system and although I wasn’t a fan at first, I came to love it towards the end of the cruise. It will tell you what exact elevator will pick you up (you’ll see) so give it a chance! The staff does a phenomenal job at making the ship feel clean and sanitized. Although there is just one complaint i have.
Coming up to the lido deck (10th floor), you can always feel a heat wave. And for some odd reason, you get a mildew type smell when you are about to go onto the lido deck from the bow of the ship. But the staff does a good job at trying to fix it and sometimes you can’t notice, but when you do notice it smells like a lockeroom very briefly. But it’s hot in the summer so i don’t blame anyone for the smell, haha.
Unfortunately, all day during this port it was raining. I was able to go out for about an hour when the rain broke, but I didn’t get a chance to hang out outside the bar & beach area that seemed nice. This was just something that was out of my control, but if it wasn’t raining I would definitely want to hang out at the bar and beach area by the shops! Everyone was very friendly and no pushy locals!
I’ve been to amber cove plenty of times. Always a fantastic port with friendly locals, great shops, good views, and great excursions. We did the Waterfalls of Damajagua excursion and i HIGHLY recommend it. The only downside to that is Carnivals rules didn’t allow anyone to jump from the jumping areas, but the nature slides for it were so cool. Some of the coolest views and water i’ve ever seen!
Very generic port (in my opinion). We went to a beach over that bridge (shown in picture) but it just felt like any other beach with pretty water. Had some good views though!
Awesome! It's so refreshing to read such great reviews. We loved the Horizon and the Dive In Movies. I really love the Vista Class of ships and wish they would expand the class 🙂 thank you for sharing 🚢🌻 Happy Cruising!
