Review summary

Overall we had a decent time. Out of all of of our previous cruises, this was our least favorite. We try to make the best of every cruise. We were hot most of the time even indoors on the ship. The entertainment shows we’re not good at all. We definitely missed trivia nights in the atrium with the cruise director as well as 80’s rock and 90’s pop shows. Our cruise director was fantastic!!!

Embarkation

Could not hear boarding zones being called- couldn’t understand what was being said unless you were right under a speaker.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was great! Melony and her team were outstanding!!!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools, water slides, sky court, ping pong, pool, mini golf, etc. all We’re great!

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The DJ was great for the deck parties etc. the shows and performances were the worst we’ve seen on any cruise. We were so looking forward to the phenomenal shows with 80’s rock and 90’s music. These shows were so incredibly weird and awful we had to get up and leave in the middle of three of them. Talent and story lines were terrible. My family that had never cruised before was very disappointed as we had talked up the shows so much from past cruise experience. The love and marriage show was good but the others were not.

Children's Programs

Kids did not participate

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Pedro is absolutely phenomenal!!!! He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed at all times! We love Pedro!!!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Sip was clean and maintained. We missed the large open atrium that other ships have. The A/C was not working properly and we were hot most of the time on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was clean and beds were comfortable. I wish the rooms that convert to 4 people were a little bigger and it’s very uncomfortable and crowded when trying to get ready for dinner or sleep. The showers were much smaller on this ship that the other cruises we’ve been on so it felt kinda closed in but overall it was ok.

Ship tip

Take a couple of fans and take portable fans with you to the buffets and dining, shows etc.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

2 out of 5
No beach Or activities right at the port. Too many hagglers trying to get you to purchase everything from them. Nothing to do without buying an excursion or leaving port area. Beach was very rocky.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
No beach at port. Taxi’s we’re expensive to take you a couple of mikes down the road cost me $48. Nothing to do at the beach we went to. (7mile beach) Jet skis were $70 for 30 min. Nothing including.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
No beaches at port. Have to pay for taxi to do anything. So many ships in port at same time made excursions fill up quickly. Beach was very rocky.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Takes a long time to get off the ship and through customs/security. Took up a good three hours and we took out luggage with us.

We started with Horizon as the first of three cruises the last 12 months. We found the show entertainment to go down in quality and class on each cruise. Even the number of entertainers declined as there were only 6 on the last cruise. Out of the 6 there were two that did most of the singing. Two of the 5 shows on a ten day cruise the singers singers actually sat on stools or movable boxes to do the show. By the end of the cruise the audience had declined to only a few. Did have a washed up singer that had been on broadway and a couple of movies many years ago. The man actually apologized twice for the break in his voice on high notes. He repeatedly told the audience how great he was/is. Also had an over the hill supposedly magician/ comedian. His performance was geared to a child’s birthday party. In fact one of his tricks I saw performed by a young kid on AGT just before the cruise.

Appreciate your detailed feedback. Sorry you were disappointed. A little research on your part would have told you that your chosen itinerary was not beach port concentrated.
