The Cruise on Horizon was truly wonderful. People on board were very friendly and everyone appeared to really be enjoying life again. It was so good to see. I felt safe with washing hands often, hand sanitizer all over the ship and hand washing machines you insert your hands in on the Lido Buffet deck. The ship is kept extremely clean with the bottom of my shoes really clean. I used dedicated flip flops for cabin and one set for ship and both stayed extremely clean
Embarkation

Rooms were available at 1:30 pm. On our Sign and Sail card showed our Muster Station. We went there first to sign in for our Safety Drill. We had about 10 people and took about 5-7 minutes. Great improvement from previous sailings

Food and Dining

The Carnival Hub App was used for everything
From moment to moment activities to Dinner reservations for Anytime Seating. There was lack of communication about this from Carnival and we found out from previous Cruisers. Even purchasing pictures from Pixels. They had a Hub store all Digital and also downloads on your App
We found the food pretty good with much variety
Guys Burgers was excellent. The homemade pizza excellent. We did Brunch 2 sea days and was good but remember to check in for reservation to be seated

Service and Staff

From Evelyn room Steward to Lanie on Serenity Deck. The ship was spotless. The Service excellent including dining. The last night we had dinner we noticed a waiter cutting the food for a little girl in a high chair. Making sure she had a napkin to keep her dress and chin clean and even hand fed her with a fork. I was amazed and Never saw this on any sailing. The time and care he took for excellent customer service
Ship Quality

Be prepared to walk. It is a huge ship. My feet were swollen by last day. Probably from xtra salt in food to xtra alcohol in casino. Not sure as I power walk 4 times a week in a pool . We brought our water jugs that hold 16 oz and drank that plus water at breakfast and dinner . Swelling was down a day after we got back. I may switch to bottled water next cruise . We had a cappuccino every afternoon and you can ask for card to be stamped as we got a free one after 6 drinks and they were 3.50 sm 4.50 Lg. We use stevia which is offered on ship
Cabin / Stateroom

We were in the basement but had a very large window. Our room was window Deluxe. The deluxe added a second bathroom that had a tub shower and sink. This was really nice. We could get ready at the same time for leaving the ship or meals. Very quiet deck as the next deck up was Family Harbor where most kids with parents stayed.
We had to be out of cabin by 8:30am. We went to deck 5 to sit and wait and we were called at 10:00 to disembark. It went pretty quick. They just scan your card and if it shows green check mark that’s it. You go to look for your luggage you tagged the night before . The ship gives number tags according to early check out or late checkout. You can take your own luggage off or put out by 11pm night before to be taken to cruise port where you will pickup upon departure. That went fine the horror was getting a cab. We waited a 1,000 person line to get one back to our hotel. Across from this area was the bays where people were waiting for Uber and Lyft . They were in the hot Miami sun and it was just as bad if not worse . Our fee was 35.00 for both in taxi to hotel east of Mia airport. I was told it was double for Uber or Lyft as they charge p/p where taxi charges per ride. Not sure if accurate as this was hearsay
Thank you for your positive review. When I think of where we all were just twos years ago, it makes me sad to see the negative reviews on here. I feel so grateful just to be sailing again. Maybe it’s not perfect and maybe food isn’t always great, but I don’t think a lot of things are the same as before COVID, at least your not home cooking , cleaning and working and that is amazing. Relax and enjoy every moment, it goes by so fast.
