Had an amazing time!! Your cruise is what you make of it. People will complain and say it’s hot in certain areas but choose not to comment on how refreshing & cool they are in others. People may complain about the food but do not choose to enjoy the specialty restaurants. It’s a vacation, try to put a positive spin on everything and you’ll have a great time. I love Carnival, their ships and their staff. This cruise was amazing!
Embarkation

Went through with ease by using VeriFly. A family member accidentally checked the bag with her boarding passes and identification. Carnival was amazing at rectifying the situation. They went to find her bag and she got her info and boarded 30 minutes after her normal boarding time. One thing you need to remember is to keep your ID handy & NEVER put away your boarding pass. I think we had to show it to about 5-6 different people as we walked through the line.

Food and Dining

Everything was great. Scrambled eggs were sitting in a liquid substance so I just opted for omelets. Pig & Anchor let me down but everything else was great. Did Bonsai Tepanyaki one night and it was delicious. Wait staff in the Meridian Dining Room was great! Edwin was my favorite. Such a great guy! Using the Carnival HUB app was so much help with not having to wait for your table. You can access the dining menus and wine list from your phone.

Edwin was a great server. Had him a few nights in the Meridian Dining Room and saw him in the morning buffet area. Such a great guy.

Everything was clean and functioning properly except the fridge. I understand that they are not meant to get things cold but it did not even get things cool. Our wine bottle on the counter was cooler than the one in the fridge. I did not ask them to bring me another one. I just asked for ice daily and they brought it. Was not a big deal at all. The location of our room was aft and it was perfect for easy access to the Family Harbor lounge (which is not always stocked, only certain times) and the Meridian dining room. Having 2 bathrooms for 5 of us (1 parent & 4 teens/young adults) was perfect!! Plenty of space for everyone and never waiting on the bathroom.
Ship tip
As of Sept 2022: Launderette on the second deck is across from #2381. Dryers are horrible. #6 is the best one so try to use that if possible. $3.50 to wash & $3.50 to dry. Iron is available as well as an ironing board. They sell detergent and fabric softener. Not sure how much those cost since I took my own.
Encountered someone who tried to set my son up for stealing in the little shops right when you get off the ship. That set the tone for us so we finished shopping and got back on the ship.
The rest of my family went to Margaritaville and had an amazing time. They said once you walk beyond the parking lots it was MUCH better. Police patrolled the area and they felt much safer than in the parking lot.
Everyone in Cozumel is amazing! We had the time of our lives. We went to Paradise Beach & got the all day, all inclusive passes and added the pass for the water toys. The water toy passes were $10 if you chose the all inclusive day pass. I booked directly through the company. I paid half up front and the other have upon arrival. I believe we paid $56 each. I feel like our crew drank all of the alcohol they had to offer. Haha! Food was delicious! Couldn’t get enough of the shrimp ceviche. We started off at the beach and ended up in the pool. We all loved the pool. It was heated and very clean. Wait staff was very attentive. They do keep a running tab but you end up owing $0 at the end, which you sign for. I believe they do this so you can see what the 20% gratuity for your server should be. There are cute souvenir shops within the resort as well as a pharmacy. I plan on returning here soon. Oh!! It’s about a 15 min taxi ride. Taxis are $15 each way for cars & $30 each way for the van. You can save by splitting the van with others.
Had an AMAZING time!!! Booked through Trip Advisor and did the Sting Ray, Snorkel and Starfish Beach excursion. I was a little apprehensive in using the company’s snorkel gear because I wasn’t sure how well they cleaned it. While on the boat ride I saw how well they disinfected everything once we were done using it. The company that we went through was Stingray City Cayman Islands. Great prices! They picked us up, took us back and provided soda & water for us. Our tour guides were so nice and even let the kids on the boat take turns “driving” the boat.
Why is everyone in Miami so rude? We spent 3 nights there prior to boarding our ship and I came across about 3 people in total who were not rude. However, we went to a Marlins game and that is a pretty nice stadium. Had a great time!
You know your vacation is over when the staff isn't telling you good morning or smiling. I get they want to get you out so the others can get on but geesh. Lol! One thing I wish is that you can load money onto your account through the kiosk on disembarkation morning. That would save time and get people off quicker.
Being from the Miami area, born and raised, most of us natives aren't rude... its the transplants from other places... I promise, we don't like them either. Lol
Great review. We so looooooved the horizon. Best ship to date. Miami is not our favorite place either. Fly to Ft lauderdale and stay at Hollywood Beach. Much cheaper and still easy to get to port.
