Generally, we had a great time. Enjoyed time on ship and things to do. Enjoyed the food. Entertainment could have been better. Cost of drinks and plans seemed a bit high, for what seemed could have been reasonable and still adequate for Carnival to make profit. Was not happy we missed 1 of 4 ports, but understand weather is an unknown factor. Otherwise, generally had a good time.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Large group. Seemed to go pretty smoothly though. No major issues.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Very much enjoyed the dinner meals and options. Found the buffets to be good and the small set of "included" sites like the burger and pizza place to be very handy and nice. Cost of drinks a little disappointing and cost of drink package seems a little unrealistic, but was manageable.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
basketball, walking track, pools, sunning in various spots, the sky ride, putt putt. I felt there were many good options and all seemed to be very adequate.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Although some of the shows were ok and the cruise director was quite funny and entertaining, it felt like the entertainment was not as good as past cruises I have been on , all of those being Carnival Cruises actually. Felt a little better variety show type shows would have been nice.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Ship staff were excellent....waiters, room stewards, others on staff did a great job. We were pleased and felt more like being at home then in a hotel room.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I felt things always looked nice and well maintained.
no excursion.....bus travel to and from airport and being estabished better , maybe even in the upfront cruise costs would be nice......seemed a little chaotic for finding buses at end of cruise for travel to airport.
Although it was mainly a weather induced issue with Tropical Storm Bonnie forming in the area , I was surprised we were within 10 ft of the dock but did not dock. And given we did not have any time at Bonaire, I thought possibly a little more time in Domincian Republic might happen but instead we were just shorted one of our 4 days of being in port , which I was not happy about. I could see the town as we were so close to docking and it looked like Bonaire would have been a great place to explore and see the sights.....unfortunately, not for us....
It was pretty sketchy. We did not ask for a tour guide as we walked to the town from the dock, but seemed to be forced to have to have a guide go with us and even police presence everywhere that seemed to be trying to avoid us getting overwhelmed by locals wanting sell wares or probably more so asking for money or worse. Very sketchy area, but seemed to have a lot of naturally beautiful sites , that you could notice even from ship.
Really enjoyed going to the Coconut Cove beach and snorkeling and swimming/sunning. Interesting open air bus ride on our excursion, but had a great time.
No issues, that I can site, other than finding transportation (to airport for us). We did find one and it was not too unreasonable in cost, but seemed chaotic to find buses or travel.....more chaotic and free for all approach, it seemed.
Sorry you missed Bonaire (we also keep missing it). Unfortunately, the cruise lines are the ones that determine the length of time at each port. It’s the respective harbor masters. Appreciate your feedback. Glad you mostly enjoyed your cruise.
