Review summary

We really enjoyed our experience on the Horizon. Take it easy, don't let little things get to you, take time to talk to people around you especially the friendly staff. It's a wonderful vacation.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at our appointment time. The scooter rental went smoothly and we were able to move through the embarkation process without any delays. The staff were super helpful with us needing to find elevators etc.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had the best servers in the MDR. We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants because we wanted to see Hazel every night. The food was good and if you wanted to try more than 1 thing you just had to ask. I liked the check in process through the app. They notified us when our table was ready and we had 10 minutes to get there. It was way nicer than hanging around outside the restaurant waiting to be called.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't take advantage of many of the activities but others we talked to really enjoyed the waterslides and bike thingy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were very well done and we enjoyed all the musicians we came across throughout the cruise.

Children's Programs

We didn't bring kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I love when they know my name and what I like. Arl was our room steward and he was always kind, made sure I had ice and my wine was chilled. The waiters took excellent care of us. They were prompt, polite, and willing to share about themselves when we asked. I had a wonderful massage by Horalei. She was the sweetest to talk with and I was so relaxed afterwards. Our favorite bar was on Deck 5 near the back of the ship. Teni called us by name, knew when one of our party was missing, and knew our drink order (and made the best Lemon Drops!).

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It was a little confusing getting to the MDR at first. We really enjoyed the outside lounging areas on deck 5. They were quieter and out of the way but you could still hear music and activities going on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
They moved us to this Accessible cabin because we had a scooter. It actually wasn't helpful for the scooter at all so I'm unsure why they moved us. The room was a standard balcony room otherwise. We liked being near the elevator. It wasn't too noisy.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

We didn't have time.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
The beach was the best. The tender over was not great though. The staff forced our scooter around the corner and broke it.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
We rented a golf cart and explored the island. You could tell it hasn't been open for business for a few years. It needs some loving care and not everything was open. We loved encountering the wild donkeys though.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
We travelled to Puerto Plata. People seemed pushy and it wasn't comfortable. It also was difficult to navigate with a scooter.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had a late flight so we weren't in a hurry. We went for breakfast in the MDR and then sat out on Deck 5 playing games until our number was called. The line to disembark went quickly.
