Review summary

To sum it all up, this cruise was booked well in advance by my husband to celebrate my birthday. We were very disappointed in the fact that it was basically cut in half due to not being able to visit the other two ports. We feel that Carnival should reimburse us for 1/2 of the cruise since that's exactly what we got. Also, I understand they are reimbursing the folks who had cruises after ours - up to two weeks or more out - by giving them a full refund PLUS so much towards a future cruise for their disappointment. Why aren't we treated as well? I will definitely look into using another cruise line going forward and will share my experience with whoever currently cruises via Carnival. I would appreciate a response, hopefully a positive one. You can email me at janallston7@yahoo.com or call me at the number you have on file.

Embarkation

Embarkation was fine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food wasn't that great.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Movies and Comedy Shows were entertaining but the outdoor deck movies had the audacity to charge for $3.00 popcorn now.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very good service from the staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Okay

Cabin / Stateroom

Cleaned well daily.

Ship tip

Make sure there are no mechanical problems before setting out to sea because we were gipped two ports due to problems and weren't reimbursed sufficiently. We paid for an 8 day Carribbean cruise going to 4 ports and only went to two. The compensation of $100. onboard credit doesn't even begin to suffice for the hardship and disappointment!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

You guys crying about ship issues it happens sorry but it does.. you don't get a refund because you didn't get port.. you only get port taxes and excursions you paid for funds back.. that's on any cruise line..

Compensation was fair.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy your cruise but you did get home safe and sound.

Sorry that you didn't enjoy your cruise but I think carnival was fair with the competition. You were reimbursed for the missed ports, obc, and a 25% fcc and you still got your 8 day cruise. Very glad that everyone returned safely.

Ports are never guaranteed. That’s how it is on every cruise line.

Sorry you felt your cruise was a disappointment

Understand your view. But you still received 8 days of cruising. You received compensation and port fees returned. I think 50% refund is out of line. No one likes to miss ports, but that is only a part of cruising.

Appreciate your feedback. Please go back and reread the cruise contract to which you agreed and said you read. You received more than the contract promises.

You agreed to and received and 8 day cruise. You were compensated more than just the typical port fees that is usually the reimbursement for missed ports. And Carnival never sees these reviews so you just put all your personal email out there for anyone to do what they want with. Good luck with that

The cruise lines have little control over missed ports due to weather, mechanical or changes in island status. It is in your contract. Most folks are grateful to be cruising during these difficult times. I'm sure the crew would rather have their customers happy too. Maybe cruising isn't for you.

Thanks for the review. Issues can and do occur that cause missed ports, itinerary changes, etc. for a variety of reasons. Per the cruise contract everyone agrees to when booking, there is no guarantee of a specific itinerary or compensation for changes. The cruise lines usually do offer some type of compensation, but some will always be unhappy.
