The staff were great, The ride was smooth. Seemed to be the nickel and diming cruise... $3 for popcorn at the dive in, $6 - $13 to see an IMAX show, $4 - $6 to stream a current movie on TV, etc., etc.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Sailed right on and rooms were ready early
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining wait staff were excellent and food was very good - Buffets pretty much had the same dinner menu as the dining rooms.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Typical trivia etc. Pools and hot tubs were constantly full even with less than 50% passenger capacity during this sailing.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Shows were pretty good... not the best we ever seen, but good and worth seeing. Comedians were not very good and repeated the same material. Would have liked to see an IMAX show, but wasn't worth $13 to me. Also the TV channel and streaming selection was poor to say the least.
Children's Programs
No children traveling with us
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Great restaurant staff and room steward.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Good décor for Carnival. Pools and hot tubs were lacking. Biggest issue is that they have too many smoking areas.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Typical Balcony room. The swing doors on the balcony needs better cushioning. Our neighbor kept letting their doors slam and really got to be annoying.
Ship tip
I would rather have a Balcony room on the port side... there is no smoking on the front port promenade so less likely to get whiffs of smoke. also it seemed that it was the better side while in port.
Nice pool, but we had two large ships including ours in this port and we were a little late in getting off the ship and there was not an empty lounge chair to be found.
We did a back to back cruise and I am rating this down because they had us wait in a lounge while everyone else disembarked. Once done, we had to get off and go down and turn around and get back on
Appreciate your feedback. The $3 popcorn has been talked about in great detail on this app. It’s a new thing and sad it has happened. Sorry you were unaware that the IMAX was additional. However, this information is available on the website. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the all of these things.
The last cruise we were on was Dec 2019 on Carnival Sunshine and popcorn was free for the dive in movie. Either it depends on the ship or else now they are changing for the popcorn. Glad you had a good time except for a few hiccups.
The port authorities determine how B2B passengers are treated, not the ship. Some have you stay in the theater until you are cleared, others do like what you did. Thanks for the review.
The last time that we went to a movie theater it costs us $45 for the movie, popcorn and drinks and that wasn't even for an IMAX movie. That was also three years ago. Also. Buy an IPAD. I buy all of my movies online, download what I want to watch on it, then I can watch what I like when I want to. Also, my books. Since it has it's own phone connection, whenever I'm in port I can pay bills and not have to use the ship wifi. Fir us if we're in a U.S. port or Mexico, it's free. Otherwise it's 10 dollars a day. We also bought the unlimited wifi for the first time in October. Bought it again for next the next cruise too.
I don’t see how people can complain about so much when on vacation. Relax and enjoy. AND it’s a back to back cruise! I would do anything to be able to do that, I’ll be a lot more appreciative when I get the chance someday.
