Review summary

We would highly recommend the Carnival Horizon for your Caribbean cruise! The ship, staff, food and entertainment are all excellent!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation process was incredibly quick and hassle free.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food is delicious, with numerous options to choose from, including 24/7 pizza and ice cream, if a late snack is what you crave! Without fail, the staff on the ship were professional, courteous and prepared to help if needed.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We saw a comedy show which was quite entertaining, watched the Super Bowl in one of the ship’s theaters, played in the casino (too many times to count) and enjoyed numerous live musical acts around the ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
As mentioned above, we attended a comedy show and a number of concerts, all of which were very enjoyable.

Children's Programs

Really?

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The ship’s staff were all courteous, professional and very friendly. They were always prepared to assist if called upon. I would say the staff were a very important component of making our cruise the wonderful experience it was!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship’s design was great for a number of reasons. Among those were maps at every elevator bank and “smart elevators” that helped get people to their floor quickly. The ship packed a lot of entertainment within a reasonably small space, so it never felt like getting from one place to another was excessively far. The staff was meticulous about keeping the ship clean, quite successfully I might add.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin we had was very nice. We had a balcony on the back of the ship which allowed us to see some sunsets and just relax overlooking the ocean. The cabin we had was surprisingly spacious, as we expected it to be smaller than it was. Our room steward did an excellent job of keeping our room clean and making sure our needs were met.

Ship tip

Read as much about cruises as you can in order to learn what to bring and leave at home. We did a lot of research and it definitely came in handy.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Not a fan.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

We did a dolphins win excursion which was a blast! The tour guide was charming and made it her mission to be sure everyone had a great time. The dolphin trainers were all personable and went the extra mile to make sure that the swim experience was enjoyable for every single person who participated.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We did the Segway tour, our first time riding Segways and this was definitely a highlight! Having never ridden a Segway before,we really had no idea how to operate one or what to expect. The personnel made sure everyone involved was sufficiently trained before we began our tour and riding a Segway is far more fun than I ever expected. We also had time to enjoy the beach, which was absolutely beautiful!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
In Cozumel we snorkeled near a reef and later in an underground cave. I would recommend that you be a fairly strong swimmer if you book this particular excursion. We are not great swimmers, but our guide made it his job to make sure we got as much out of the excursion as possible! Seeing marine life in it’s natural habitat is such an incredible experience and we were fortunate to swim side by side with a sea turtle.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was every bit as easy as the embarkation process! Simple and hassle free!
