Review summary

I went on Carnival Horizon with my 7 year old son and must say the cruise was amazing, we just came back Sat Feb 9. The ship is fairly new and well built. I have no complaints. Although at times seats weren't available on deck, i went to other floors. The entertainment was great. I enjoyed Lip Sync Battle, Carnival Quest and many of the contests on deck. My son enjoyed all entertainment fo the kids. He has nothing bad to stay about camp ocean, the pools or the mini golf, skyride or pool tables. Food was ok. I never have high expectations with buffet style servings. One thing I hate about breakfast is the runny eggs. I hate wet scrambled eggs, i wish they would fix this. The burgers are too beefy for me but I did enjoy the burritos. Dinner at reflections was ok. I went to the club every night, i enjoyed it but I wish the dj would play more top 40 hits instead of so many old tunes. Director Schwartz was a great host. He is funny. playful and can dance his butt off. I really enjoyed this ship with the help of his funny antics. Deck parties were live and people on the boat were friendly and know how to enjoy themselves. I would definitely go again. I'm looking to book now. The ports were great. Cayman islands has the best beaches. I notice people complain about the elevators , once you get use to it, it was easy to understand. People complain no chairs, just go to a next floor and find some. People complain about long lines, well get up early and you can avoid long lines. I go with the flow and make it work to my liking and people need to learn to still be efficient, even when on vacation.

As with any buffet, it will always be average and the same. I did like the guava drinks that they only gave access to in the morning on Lido deck but otherwise liquor was good. The dinner at reflections was ok. My expectations are never too high when there is a buffet but I still ate and I didn't get sick.

Onboard Activities

Onboard activities were phenomenal. I really enjoyed skyride. I also like the mini golf and ping pong tables. I tried playing pool but it was difficult as the wind constantly move the balls. The foosball table is wonderful. Pools were few but fine, whirlpool could have been a little hotter.

Entertainment

I love most of the entertainment. Director Swartz was funny. He made me laugh at every event he did. He can sing dance and definitely knows how to hype up the crowd. Comedy show , Karoake and Marriage show were phenomenal. I did not really like Motown Spellbound and the vintage concert, I think it really lacks diversity. Motown definitely needed more african american singers performing. By far my faviorite was carnival Quest. It was raunchy R rated and hilarious. I see people complain , if you didn't like it he warned your whiney selves to leave. This was the highlight. But I must say the lip sync battle was phenomenal. I love how the contestants were given costumes and a full stage and lights. Well put on. The deck parties were very fun too

My son who I went with was sad when we left. He was in the pool majority of the time but he loved Camp Ocean and also the play area with mini golf and foosball. They had build a bear workshop which he enjoyed very much too.

Staff was wonderful. considering how hectic the boat is they really did good. they cleaned up in a timely manner and were very helpful

My cabin was perfect. I have no complaints. I was happy being on the 10th floor near the deck. I was always near the fun.

Ship tip

Not everything will be perfect. There are over 5000 people on the ship, don't be quick to complain. There are times you can make your stay better for yourself.
