The purpose of the trip was for our 8 grandchildren and for them it was fabulous. Job well done.
I will stick to Princess or Holland America both Carnival owned ship lines. The Caribbean is not for me.
Embarkation

To move that many people on and off is just insane. You have three or four loading places on the ship for your customers but you put them threw one door to the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Of all the cruise ships I have been on this ship had the worst sanitation by far. We were traveling with an ER doctor and my wife got food poisoning. The staff pushed it off to sea sickness but then when the doctor stepped in they knew they were busted. Everyone is our party of 16 was sick at some point during the cruise. Someone better clean up the sanitation and do it NOW. I bought the soda package again and this time it was a nightmare of bar staff not wanting to serve you to opening a can and giving you a class and basically saying pour it yourself. Really.
Onboard Activities

The Ocean Club for kids was fabulous. The workers were fabulous. Simply the best. I had 8 grandkids on the ship and they all just had the best of times. My adult children were rather bored except one show ever other night was good. My wife and I were utterly bored. Holland Amercia for us.
Entertainment
Never saw any shows.
Children's Programs

Simply the best. The Green Eggs and ham breakfast was a little heavy on the sugar but the kids loved seeing the characters. The kids clubs were awesome. The purpose of the cruise was the kids and in this way the ship excelled.
Service and Staff

Marvin our room steward was simply the best steward. Really did a good job. Our wait staff in the Reflection dinning room was fabulous. Darvin our waiter could not have been better. The maitre dee was fabulous as well.
Ship Quality

Sanitation was almost non existent. We traveled with an emergency room doctor and he diagnosed my wife, who planned this trip with food poisoning the first day. Everyone in our party of 16 was ill or throwing up at some point. Our doctor friend said it was sanitation. Come on really after all these years you still have this problem.
I was also appalled with the condition of this new ship. Our balcony room exterior door was noting but rust. Rust all over on this 6 month old ship. There needs to be interior switches in the bathrooms and a switch of light up the closet area. This would allow on guest to sleep while another guest prepares for the day.
Plenty of hangers!!!
Scum of the earth. Theives at every turn from Lyft drivers to pizza places ripping off people from the time we got off the plane to the time on the ship and off again.
To short of a visit, shops were filled with theives as well. I bought a pair of boots and the salesperson wrapped up the wrong size boots and two bags and sent me to the ship. Only after did I realize the scam. Shame Shame. You own the building and rent to the shop keepers only to have them ripp off customers and give you a bad name.
Proverty central. Drugs offered at every turn. Our excursions were fun and driver great, but the town and people were sad to witness. Shopping was poor at best.
Parts of your review are almost comical. Rust on the exterior of any ship will happen since it’s constantly sailing in saltwater. If you’re complaining about that and light switches a little to hard to please you may be. As far as embarkation they can’t board you on deck 0 (where you get off for ports) since they are bringing the thousands of pieces of luggage onboard, thousands of cases of food and beverages, etc. I’ve sailed on Holland America and while it’s nice I probably wouldn’t do it again until I’m in my late 60s or 70s since it’s an older crowd(we found the shows and entertainment boring). Carnival cruise line is known as the Fun Ships for the activities and caters to all ages so if your adult children found that boring Holland will be torture.
