Review summary

Though I really enjoyed this vacation with my daughters, I do think I have become more appreciative of smaller ships. There were approximately 5,000 passengers but it really did not feel like it. The ship is large enough to adequately accommodate everyone. There were lines at all of the food stations. This is totally understandable and not unreasonable considering the amount of people on the ship. The Horizon is new so it was very clean. The staff works tirelessly and were always polite and helpful. I love the newness and modern decor. I was in room 9433 (balcony) and was worried I’d hear noise from the Lido deck. Noise from chairs were not at all an issue.I was concerned we were the room not located in a hallway and very close to the elevators. Worried I would have “overindulged” passengers bang up against the door. Again, no problems there. If I were to book this ship again, I would consider the Havana Suites. That area was private and really adult sexy. The greatest disappointment was the sky ride was not operating! This was the reason we boarded this particular ship and if I had been notified I would have rescheduled for another time. What a tremendous let down!. We were not notified until we checked into our room. NOT FAIR, CARNIVAL! The decent thing to do is make the passengers with children aware before embarkation. The Flying Scotsman did an awesome job. He was jovial and entertaining without being annoying. It was a real treat to see him at various venues and the female comedian was really good. The I-Max movie theater showing Jurassic Park was fantastic. Don't bother with the other 17 minute I-Max shows unless you have small children. To get away from the small tots, I retreated to the Serenity Lounge several times. I am picky about cleanliness and forced myself out of my comfort zone and hopped into one of the adult only jacuzzi's. EEEWWW, never again! The water was so cold and I've never seen that shade of grey for water within a jacuzzi. I would rather have sat inside of my toilet bowl. The food was good and plentiful. Loved the fish tacos at the Taco Station. The pizza was good, but not sure why the lines are always so long. Hire a few more people! I'm not a vegetarian but I generally do not eat meat. I tried a bite of my daughter's Guy burger and it was super delicious. I wish there were more salad selections. I found two that I liked the first day (an arugula and a apple salad) and never saw them again. Please do work on the Falafel sandwiches at the deli. The falafel is grainy and ice cold. The food and the service in the MDR was awesome. I don't drink tremendous amounts of alcohol, but the few fruity drinks were good. We had no wait and really enjoyed winding down for the evening by getting dressed up. And finally, who could not love Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda? This was the highlight of our trip. It was my girls' first time there and I was so happy with just watching them snorkel, climb, dive and relax on the pink sands. Do not pay for this excursion via Carnival. It is a 14.00 US round trip fare and the minibuses are everywhere anticipating the tourists. Wish we had more time there. All in all, it was a great trip. Especially since it was a surprise trip for my daughters. They thought we were going to Universal Studios in Orlando; our annual trip. I wish I had taken pics of their faces when they saw the Carnival Horizon docked in the Manhattan Harbour.

Lol @ TheIceman. Not my first cruise at all. Just one review of many and because I was on the Horizon's fourth trip, I thought it best to be of some assistance in providing MY review. I don't think I had an abundance of complaints. Sorry (NOT SORRY ) that you did not approve. It was MY experience, hopefully, yours will be better. Might I suggest the Adult whirlpool in the Serenity Lounge?

How can you complain and compare to others this looks like your only cruise maybe you should just stick to land from now on!

If you only have one day in Bermuda, I'd pick horseshoe bay. It really depends on what your into. Horseshoe Bay was wonderfully relaxing and amazingly, not terribly crowded.

The skyride was down the rest of the second half of our cruise in April. Glad I did it earlier in the week.

Great review..thanks for sharing. I'm booked on the Horizon in 42 days to the Eastern. Do you have any recommendations on must see's in Bermuda? I'm sailing there next May. Thank you

Sorry about the Sky Ride! It wasn’t operational when we sailed a few weeks ago either. Very disappointing as I was very much looking forward to it. Carnival did notify us via email about a week before we sailed that it wouldn’t be available. Glad you enjoyed your cruise!
