Love inside cabins, take a nap any time of day! This deck is perfect for going everywhere on the ship

Port Canaveral, Florida

I have been cruising out of Port Canaveral since the early 1990s and this newer terminal is so much nicer and easier than before. Luggage dropoff was easy, make sure you have your ship/cabin tags securely on your luggage. Don't be cheap, tip the guys handling the luggage, you want them on the ship safely. If you show up at your scheduled time, you walk right in for the "doggy line up". Once you have been cleared by McGruff the crime dog, you will show your documents, sign in and then proceed through the metal detectors. After that you wait for your group code to be called and then you are on the ship. There are plenty of places to have your "first ship picture" taken. You won't be hounded by photographers but they are there if you want or just take a selfie. Plenty of chairs to sit in cool AC while you wait to board instead of the old way of waiting in a "cattle call" mass standing herd in a hot hallway. This is Carnival's terminal so not sure about the others The disembark process has improved over the years as well. We picked a later time (you get to choose your time) so we were not rushed and had breakfast. Then it was easy peezy, lemon squeezy to get off the ship. The secret is make sure you have a passport!! The line for people who just had a driver's license and birth certificate was very, very, very, very long. Passport holders just walked past that line and zipped out through immigration and customs.
