Glory is a nice ship, but needs a bit of updating. Crew seemed a bit rusty. Many of the passengers seemed a bit sketchy, which is frequently the case on Carnival out of New Orleans. No live TV!? Could not get any news except for the streaming CBS propaganda crap. Where is FOX News? No cigar lounge or smoking area. Room service only once a day. Ship ran out of luggage tags. Comedy Club was great. Stage entertainment seemed lackluster, so we did not attend. Bartenders seemed stingy on pour and inflexible in terms of mixing requested drinks (we aren't college kids swilling drink after drink, so some latitude and common sense should be made to apply).
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very smooth. Fastest we have ever boarded a ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room was nice, although most servers appeared to be new and had difficulty understanding some basic requests. Buffet was very nice. Guy's was great as always and the Blue Iguana was fantastic. Bar service was spotty, with servers being stingy on drinks and requests. Two bartenders were great; many of the others did not appear to want to be there.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Fitness center was good.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Comedy club was great. Karaoke was fun, without an endless procession of Frank Sinatra clones. Did not attend any stage shows, since none of the productions appealed to us.
Children's Programs
Uh, no children with us.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Room service reduced to once a day. Cabin girl seemed to be given a lot more cabins than we have seen in the past (resulting in less interaction). Buffet servers friendly. Guy's and Blue Iguana perfunctory. Dining room servers adequate.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Common areas were generally fine and any mess was the direct result of a passenger.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was adequate. Shower a bit tiny, and we are not overweight people. Over-all clean, but it seemed a bit tired in appearance.
Ship tip
Some of the passengers looked like they were on the lam from the law.
Cozumel is OK the first few times you visit. This was about our ninth trip there, so it's hard to generate much enthusiasm, especially if you just stay in the commercial port area.
Where are there not sketchy characters in this day an age ? There is a lot of homeless people not far from where the ship docks . You will not get the carnival crowd on royal or celebrity. Maybe the next cruise with them would be better
