Review summary
First of all please understand I am not a complainer but this was just too much. A very bad cruise! Something I have been waiting for for 2 and a half years. Not happy at all.
1. We were the first 4 in line. Waited for the faster to the fun, diamond, platinum people. Went through at 10:45. Took until after 12:15 to get on the ship. Not fast at all. Crowded by then with people standing in areas with their luggage they were taking on themselves, because no more seats were available.
2. Went to room at 1:30. The first closet had a pile of dirty towels in them. There were 2 blue and 5 or 6 white ones thrown in it. Waited for the floor people to put down the bed and they never showed. Took the towels out to the floor person before we went to bed. The luggage rug on the bed was never collected. It was left on the couch where we put it when we were done with it. When we were packing the night before we were double checking under the shelves to be sure we didn't leave anything, we found 2 more towels stuffed in the back of one of the other closets.
3. The closet that was supposed to have the life jackets in them didn't have them. They were in the other one so I didn't have time to freak! But all the hangers were on the floor of both closets along with about 4 other wire hangers.
4. From day 1 and every day our toilet would not go down every time. When told the floor person we were told they were all doing it that they would go down eventually and they did.
5. No robes, ice at night and bed turned down. Were told the robes and ice were by request only and the beds were not turned down anymore. My cousins tipped EVERY night to be sure they got their ice.
6. We are Gold and we never got our Gold pin. We had to ask twice for the free water. We did get the free drink paper.
7. We (both couples) were on to also celebrate our anniversaries. My cousins received 2 cards one for $50 off of the spa and one for $15 (I think ) off of photos. We got the one for the spa. We don't do the Spa's although I would have loved a massage but the spa features are way to expensive. They used their photo one (and that was the only photo they bought) they were too expensive also. If they were cheaper more people would buy more. Anyhow, none of us used the spa cards so they were wasted. We had also been sent a paper for our anniversary to get a photo session. I thought there was supposed to be a free picture but when we went down to see about it, we were told it would be $150 plus they would follow us around the ship for pictures. You guessed it, too expensive and no Free picture.
8. The air vent rattled the whole time. We eventually got used to it after a couple of days.
9. Around the edge of the room were caked with dirt along the walls under the drawers and cabinets. Although the rest of the floor was kept clean. Lack of help was very evident (cutbacks?). A breeding ground for mold.
10. I did ask for a bulb on the day after we took off for the lamp beside the bed but never got one. (I asked twice).
11. We always get a balcony room because we like to sit out there. I don't go off at the ports and like to sit out there while everyone else goes. The window and door were so dirty (streaked with salt) you couldn't see real clear out of them. They did not clean them until the Friday before the cruise was over. Then it wasn't done real well and too late for us to enjoy.
12. I did listen to some of the cruise director and the shop lady (Hollie's) seminars. They would say things like it is only a couple of dollars to do this. Ex, the ski chairs going across at Routan is only a "couple of dollars". We have to really save for a couple of years to do these cruises and only a couple of dollars and $14 each can and is a big difference to us. I can't walk that far and this was supposed to be a great relief for me. We did walk it and thank goodness for all the benches along the way. We took advantage of all of them I think and the shade above them from the trees were great. Took much longer and wore me out but I did it. This was the one of 2 things I was really wanting to do. My cousin was going to teach me to snorkel. It was the first time in about 30 years I had been in the ocean!
13. Entertainment was a joke. The music is TOO loud. You can't hear what they are singing. WE had even actually seen these same shows on previous cruises. There were only 3 shows. The one on Sunday (Motor City), Monday (Getaway Island) then not another one until Thursday (Amor Cubano). There should be a show every night. The trivia games are a joke. Hasbro not that great either. We only saw 3 singing entertainers down in the main lounge on deck 3 while waiting for our Dining room to open. The one was mediocre, the band was ok and the guy that was on his own was great but we only saw him once or twice. We did go to one of the Comedy ones but it was the PG and was ok except he kept teasing a teen and kept saying wish this was the later one that I have so much I could say to that. I don't like the cussing comedy things so they were out for us. There was nothing to do on the day that I didn't go to the port in Belize.
14. We picked the early seat dining to enjoy the productions. That didn't work out. The food was ok. 3 times my food was messed up. Eduard offered to have it fixed but since we had to wait 20 to 25 minutes the way it was I was not holding up the other 3 with me to wait for mine to just eat alone. So I was not happy overall with the food. I wasn't thrilled with the food on Lido either. I would up sticking with cheese and fruit and would try the meats. At breakfast the eggs were watery or rubbery so I would do boiled if I had any at all. The best meal was the breakfast the day before it was over down in the restaurant. It was great.
15. The ship never left on time from the ports. They were always running a lot later.
16. On Tuesday or Wednesday our air went out and I was up all night. I called the desk first thing (since I wasn't really getting help with the other things with the floor help) and was told they would send someone up in 15 minutes. Half hour later we went to find the floor guy to see if we had to wait since they hadn't showed up yet, and he called them again. They showed up just a little later before we left. The guy was in there for about 10 minutes maxed. He turned the air up (we had already done that but he turned it down then back up) which hadn't needed it before since it always stayed real cold the way we like it. Took the vent off (I told him about it rattling too) then put a yellow box on the bed looked at it put it up at the vent area and said it was good. It never did cool off real well after that. It even quit the night before we left too so I never got any sleep that night either and it was a 15 hour drive back. I was not a happy car companion. My cousins said their air never worked at night and they just figured that they turned it off or way down at night throughout the ship.
17. The day in Cozumel started ok although I hated the idea of that long walk up that pier. The people were too pushy there. One of them even called my cousin a F****** B**** because she wouldn't go into their store. My last time there! Then we get back quick and while sitting on our balcony watching everyone loading and yes even those that were really late, we find that there is mechanical problems and no power or water on the ship. I was so thankful that we were docked for that one. We were there for quite some time. I can't remember exactly how long but well over an hour in a half on that one. The crew down below was great. They kept taking water to those that were waiting so long to get on since the elevators and electric were out they were having to manually search and enter everyone.
18. The scariest part was the day after Cozumel and the day before we were scheduled to depart the new slide sprung a major leak. We never heard any announcements about it. We actually was coming from lunch or breakfast can't remember which from Lido deck to get on the elevator to go to our room on Deck 8 when we saw them wading through the water and trying to mop and suck it up. They did the smart thing and shut down what I thought was all the glass elevators, I saw later that night they had only shut the 2 on that side down). Now I am freaking we had no idea where it was coming from, if it was from the pool above or what (later found out is was from the slide). We went down to eat later and was standing at the rails by the jewelry shop to watch the singers when all I could focus on was the water still dripping from above. Still never heard any announcements. People were going into the shops to drag workers out to show them the drips to find out was going on. That worried me more and more. I couldn't wait for the next day to get off assuming we did make it to Miami (still no announcements).
19. I did enjoy the casino the few times I went.
20. The Glory does need a lot of work. One of the scariest things also was going to the women's restroom at the theater area. The wall is buckled all across the bottom about 4 or 5 inches from the bottom. Made us wonder about the floors above. After all this was on deck 3 or 4. I didn't go back in it. Too scarey to think about.
21. The good points? Well the people were great! Really nice and helpful. The bed was beyond comfortable when I could sleep when it wasn't so hot in there. Loved the snorkeling and enjoyed the casino. The entertainment (singers and bands) I already mentioned. The food well I already stated what I thought about that. I did really like the effects from the productions but actually had to put my fingers in my ears because of the SO LOUD music).
22. I was really looking forward to trying the new ship Vista or even the Horizon. It will take us that long to save up again. Then again we just aren't happy with the service we have been getting the past few cruises. This cruise cost us $2500 + by the time we paid for the cruise, gratuities, insurance, gas and food going down. Also it does not include the fact that we had no money coming in for 2 weeks. That is a lot of money for us. I am on disability and we have very little coming in on top of that. I will miss my Ship balconies and the good entertainment I used to have.
I know the majority of these things are petty but when you put so many together it just makes the vacation a bad experience. I did submit this to Carnival and received a phone call back. Basically there response was I am sorry and offered us a $50 room credit on our next cruise. Sadly, I don't intend to take another Carnival cruise. I will be checking the other lines and see what I can see that would interest me more with their entertainment.

Ship tip
I would never reccommend the Carnival Glory. That ship is in need of major work. I would worry about the buckling of the walls on Deck 3 in the womens bathroom at the Theater, the major leak from the brand new slide that was put in, the mechanical issues in Cozumel and the air conditioning situation

The "Floor Person"? The "Shop Lady"? Did you mean the "Cabin Steward" and the "Assistant Cruise Director"? Tipped the "Floor Person" every night for ice? And you have been on how many cruises??? You made 22 points and your NOT a complainer? EVERY single point was nothing BUT a complaint! As for Cozumel, we have sailed there many times and love it there. Your review just reads that you are most DEFIANTLY not a people person. In which case, cruises are not for you (and having someone onboard with us like you isn't in our best interest either)!
