I've been on some great vacations, but some of the people on this ship put this one near the top. I had heard mixed reviews about Canival being a party boat, or too many kids, or a "lower class" cruise line, and honestly went on this trip with my cousin and his family because of everything they had told me about their trip the year before. I'm glad I listened to him and not some of the reviews. Yes, there is drinking and people having a good time, yes, there were a lot of kids, no, it was not a low class cruise line. The ship was big enough that everyone had something to enjoy and everyone on the ship I met was curtious. There are areas to have a good time, there are areas for kids, and there are quiet areas you can get away and just relax still being outside. I met a lot of great people on this cruise from employees to other cruisers. I would recommend Carnival to all of my family and friends
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Was a lot easier than I was expecting. It was a little confusing when we first got there, but the Carnival employees were very helpful
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Great food in the dining room every night. Had the opportunity to try some things I probably would not have like wild bore, alligator, and frog legs. All of the dining options were great. Great food and lots of choices
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We didn't spend much time in the pools or slides, but had great times going to different shows and other activities. There's so many things to do, you don't have enough time to do them all
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Didn't really love the comedians, except for the last night, Andy the cruise director did a late 18+ show that was hilarious! We did go to some of the other stage shows and watched some of the performers and was not disappointed any night. Make sure to check out the violinists show in the Alchemy bar (I think). They were great! Played anything from Rock to Top hits
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone was polite and courteous. I talked to several of the staff and learned a lot from them. Huge shout out to our room steward Viktor. He stopped myself and my daughter in the hall the first day aboard and introduced himself and asked our names. Everyday after he would call us by our names, ask how everything was going, and gave us great information on things to try and places to go. If anyone meets Viktor as their room steward on the Freedom tell him hello from James and again how much I appreciated him on our cruise.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The staff was continuously cleaning to make the ship safe and looking great. No matter where you go someone has a squeegee on the pool deck, or wiping down handrails, or picking up after someone. The ship looked great
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The room was small, but not cramped and had A LOT more cabinet space than I was expecting, and the bathroom was considerably bigger than I had expected. The thing that surprised me the most was the water pressure in the shower. I loved the room overall, and the towel animals that Viktor and his staff left in the evening always made you want to go back to the room to see what the surprise of the night was
Ship tip
Just pay attention to what they tell you and things are so simple. Don't be afraid to ask questions because everyone we talked to were more than helpful and everyone had a great attitude. There may be some quiet or shy workers, but don't take that as they are rude or unhelpful. We found out quickly a lot of the workers first language may not be English, but if you ask them a question they will do everything they can to help
Beautiful blue and warm waters. The food on the island was great and people were friendly. We did the swimming with pigs excersion because of my daughter and had a great time. We didn't go walking much because if reviews I had read, but everyone there said they had done a lot of work in the surrounding area to make it look nice, and it did look good. Regret a little not doing more sight seeing
This was my favorite stop. The water at the other islands were amazing, but here was just mesmerizing. The dark blue and the clear turquoise water was so beautiful. We went snorkeling here and we're not disappointed at all. Only regret was we didn't have more time. I am looking forward to coming back
Taking the boat to the island was easier than I had expected. Again, if you're new just pay attention to what they are telling you and things aren't bad at all. The island was beautiful with a lot to do. We didn't do an an excersion here, but had a great time
Was a little confusing at first, but Carnival had staff placed in multiple places to help if you just asked. They all seemed to be having fun especially Spicy G. The biggest problem was people not paying attention to what they were being told to do. It wasn't the Carnival staff that was the problem, it was the people not paying attention and holding everyone else up
Thanks for you very positive review. We were on Freedom in April and we agree, it was a great cruise with staff that went out of their way to make something special for us.
