Review summary

This was a good cruise with our families however many areas noted for improvement. Really disappointed in the food in the MDR, the overall experience at Princess Cays and the overall cleanliness onboard. The ship itself is outdated as are the rooms (more so bathrooms, likely where the constant smell of old urine comes from). Having cruised several times before we had high hopes for the food and we’re left with much to be desired. The wait staff in the MDR were wonderful and gave us a great experience however the food was just rather blah and tasteless.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We really liked having specific embarkation times, found that the lines moved quickly and we were on much more quickly than previous cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dining room food left much to be desired, great variety however most food only tasted decent. Most meats over cooked, dry and flavourless, vegetables with dinner were soggy, and desserts were a disappointment. Buffets well supplied with great variety and sandwich nook was a hit along with the ice cream!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The kids enjoyed the pools and slides along with the kids camp. The gym offered a good variety of equipment however the weight area was far too small. The view out of the gym would be spectacular if the windows were a bit larger/taller and they weren’t always fogged up.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
The kids liked the kids camp and the variety of activities offered on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Nyoman was our favourite and he always remembered the names of all of us in our large group.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship itself it outdated and had a HORRIBLE sewage smell the moment you walked on. It was noticeable in all main areas from deck 3 to the lido. It did not dissipate throughout the trip. While cleaning crew were always visible, the washroom facilities were often cluttered with toilet paper on the ground, I flushed toilets and dirty sinks/counters in main areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin itself was great, a bit small for our family however had all the amenities required. The bathroom smelled of old urine and the shower did not drain causing a small flood on our first day. This was however remedied rather quickly and did not occur again.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

2 out of 5
The food was only “OK”, little variety and truthfully the line ups were way too long. Water was hard to find and often bar staff were annoyed if we wanted just water as opposed to an alcoholic drink.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent process, baggage exactly where promised and little lines.

I was on this cruise and can definitely agree about the food in the MDR. It was not good. My whole table was unimpressed. Parts of the ship did have a sewage smell on the lower decks especially first day. We made the most of the cruise but definitely hesitant on booking another through carnival right now.
