Overall we had a nice trip and enjoyed the extra New Years Eve festivities.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth once we entered the terminal. Platinum, Diamond and suite guests had a separate seating area. Drug dogs sniffed all luggage before entering seating areas. If you want to leave your luggage with a porter, you must circle the garage first before parking. The porters are not in the garage (terminal 6). We managed but this could have been rough for many people.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food and drinks are exactly what you expect from Carnival. Our special New Years Eve meal was good. Overall, good but not great.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Putt putt golf needs some repairs. slides were pretty fun. I did not appreciate the adults only back deck. The serenity area had two hot tubs. This adult area on aft lido forced ever kid into one pool and two hot tubs in center.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I enjoyed the performers on board. The stage shows were not elaborate but singers were good. The Freedom rock band singer had a great voice.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
This is a hard one to rate as many we encountered deserve a 5! However, some deserve a 1. Room stewards are overworked and can’t provide the service many guests have grown to expect. We had great dining room staff this trip.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship is very clean but in need of dry dock for repairs.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Location is fine. However this room uses a transformer couch for your 3rd and fourth guests. The county becomes a permanent bunk bed that takes up a lot of the room. There is no option of a pull-down.
Ship tip
Unless you plan to carry your luggage on the ship, make sure you circle the garage to meet porters prior to parking.
Enjoyed our day. We walked to Junkanoo beach and rented chairs from Casey at the Salty Crab. We also ordered drinks and food. We felt he took care of his customers and didn’t allow people to bother us all day. If you plan to walk ask for directions to Margaritaville resort and then walk a little further down the beach area.
