Review summary

Air in our cabin didn't cool properly. Guest services took our battery operated fan that was on the permitted list of things allowed . Food was horrible on the buffet. Seemed to be just a hodgepodge of thrown together stuff with no flow of theme to it. Had anytime dining but the main dining room never seemed to be able to set our whole table of 16 together although the whole 7 days they promised to do so. I was not impressed and don't plan on booking another with Carnival any time soon.

The Steak House is "reservation" dining so they would be able to prepare for 16. YTD is like walking into a restaurant to eat. They may not have enough tables in close proximity to accommodate 16. Even in assigned dining rooms the most the seat at one table is 10 - 12 if people are willing to squeeze in so I can't imagine who would have ever said they could or would seat 16 at one table.

I have taken a battery operated fan on 10 cruises with no issues, also travel with groups of cruisers and tou will never have 16 people at one table, we all sit at different tables in the same area usually the back and we do anytime and let them know we will be arriving every day around 6:30 and not a problem but we have more like 26 people most nights, we don't expect it but it has always worked out.

My hubby and I have had 16 cruises on a variety of ships and in the 16 cruises have not had a bad experience we travel to the states from Australia we have had great service a few hiccups which we sorted out and moved on but no big deal ...I think asking for a table for 16 was a bit much I believe any cruise line would have the same issue and I think it was unrealistic of you thinking that that was ok. I really feel you did not get on with a right attitude you need to go more with the flow and maybe a table next to each other would of been the way to go ... anyway it's a shame you did not feel carnival did not meet your expectations maybe you should try ... celebrity it may be your scene.

Carnival Freedom was our first ever cruise last year, and my family of four had an amazing time. I was expecting "Horrible" food on the buffet, and BOY was I wrong. Food was amazing on buffet and we also had anytime dining, not one issue our entire time aboard the Freedom. I keep reading post about the temperature of cabins, we had a balcony with big window and our rooms were still comfortable and if it wasn't... adjusted the thermostat. I found the ship to be clean and well maintained and the staff was amazing. Themed buffet, that wasn't even something I was looking for. I honest find some of the expectations that some people have a cruise are laughable. The buffet is just that a buffet, for fast convenient self service. Did you try the steak house? What did you think of the pizza, deli, tacos or Guys burgers. The buffet is quick food for large groups of people. Well, I guess I enjoyed myself because it was my first cruise and I did not go into it with the expectation of excellent. I was hoping to enjoy my first cruise and that I did, I booked my second cruise with Carnival and plan to book more. I only ask for a clean place to eat and sleep as well as a safe trip, I found all on Freedom and was very impressed with my first cruise. Sorry to hear that you/ others had a bad experience and offer a word of advise. "Inspect what you expect" do research prior to cruise and prepare yourself. All the reviews say that the buffets on cruises or buffets, you want to get themed, plan a night at the steak house.($35.00) per person dress code enforced. Enjoy your cruise and please don't compare this experience to anything not cruise. Enjoy your experience.

Who promised it?

Well, you are on a ship in the middle of the gulf and some things will never be perfect. Many people say they have issues with the cabin temps (we have not). Some people get whiffs of odors, etc. It's a floating resort; you've got to bend a little. The fan? That doesn't make sense; there's a piece missing from that puzzle. Table for 16?? I can't imagine even asking for that. That seems terribly unreasonable to me. So out of a 7 day cruise those were your biggest complaints? Pack some flexibility, a good attitude, and maybe a little gratitude next time.

Well we were seated in close proximity to each other. And twice all together while on the ship. That was in the Steakhouse tho. My point being... don't promise it if you can't accomplish the task. And by no means am I whining about it. Just don't understand why you would promise it ON SHIP when you know you can't do it!

Table of 16??? And you expected to be together with anytime dinning?? Which is first come/first serve. Sounds like poor planning and expectations from a whiny entitled fool.
