Review summary

My favorite part was the wait staff at dinner. This was my first and last carnival sailing and probably my last. It will be my last time on board freedom.  The boat smelled like a sewer, the bars didn't open until 8 for the kids to get soda to drink with breakfast. It was a crapshoot if you got your drink when you ordered it. More than once I was told where the bar was and I needed to get my own drink. I have out of 15 cruise's never meet such a ass or person who could be more rude to guest as the cruise director Malcom was. The way he acted towards guest and his staff was horrible for the position he held. Now granted I wasn't around him 24 hours be the few times I did see and try to talk to him he was a complete jerk. I was very disappointed in this cruise, never again will I do carnival on freedom

Well, if you know anything about management, the fact that "staff members" thought he was an ass means he's doing his job... Lol. We are going again in July. I will pay more attention, and see if he has changed since last time.

We had 7 days on Freedom, as I said I've been on several cruises and by a long long way freedom was the worst cruise experience I've had. I understand folks having a bad day, but as a cruise director that's something you need to put aside and do your job. My wife and I asked several staff members about him and they agreed that he is a ass. Some even said they have transfer paperwork in place. I'm not giving up on cruising but it's going to take something special for me to give Carnival any more of my money

Wow! We went on freedom last September (our first) and had a fantastic time. Our experience with Malcolm was great. Perhaps you caught him on an off day. Cruise directors are in that position based on feedback from the cruisers and peer reviews. If he was an ass he would either not have made it, or would be promptly demoted. Did you approach him? We did, for a picture, and he was more than happy to pose with us.

Don't know about harmony but been on liberty out of Galveston and it was awesome!!! We had harmony booked for November but do to unexpected time restraints going to have to bump it to next may.

My family & I went on it this past December. Malcolm & some of the staff (we encountered) were fine. We just had too many problems to name. Oh & their Soda program is a joke. Seriously. But, next year is my Husband & I 20th wedding anniversary so, we are doing RC Harmony of th Seas. Hope it's a bit better. If not we'll just go back to flying to our destinations.

We loved freedom. Sailed on her last May, and Malcolm was great!!

Not going to give up on cruising, just carnival. They can't hold a candle to royal, but that's just my opinion. And if my opinion was the only one that mattered it would be a crappy world. To each his own, I'm sure there are folks out there that feel the same about Royal that I do about Carnival.

Freedom twice. No problems

We did not care for Malcolm in January. He was somewhat aloof and standoffish, not fun at all. Just our opinion. But we love Freedom!

the Breeze is next for us in April 2018. can't wait!!!

Dont give up on Carnival. The Valor is great and the Breeze is to die for. One bad apple shouldnt cause u to say bye bye. Try again.

I somewhat agree. I didn't care for Freedom either. didn't have any encounters with Malcom, but the ship overall needs a makeover. Keep experiencing though. you can't let one bad sail turn you away.
